  3. Kershaw gave up a solo HR to Domingo Santana and ended up with only 14 Ks in 7. Dodgers working on being shut out for the second straight game against a team ahead of the Cubs in the NL Central.
  4. 12 through 6 after only getting 1 strikeout in the 6th. He's also at 80 pitches, so 20 Ks seems safe.
  5. Kershaw has 9 Ks through 4. Wish the Dodgers could score on the Brewers.
  6. Perhaps he was referring to Hayden Simpson, 1st guy that jumped to mind when I read his quote. Simpson and Stinnett were the ones I was mostly thinking of. I think there's a difference in velo jumps for HS kids (and IFAs) who frequently see velocity increases in their teen years vs college kids who are already physically more mature. Obviously there are HS kids who can't maintain their recent velocity upticks in pro ball (Blackburn and Pawelek come to mind) but I think you get what I'm trying to say.
  7. No, because they only had Baez left on the bench. That was the direct result of burning Contreras, Almora and Jay to PH for Montero and Schwarber the previous inning.

  9. Joe over-managed the horsefeathers out of that and emptied the bench.

  11. Oscar de la Cruz was placed on the 7-day DL. No information on the injury.
  12. And Jose Albertos is starting down in Arizona.
  13. Who specifically are you talking about? Obviously for some players, an uptick in velocity is fleeting but it does happen to many HS kids who do maintain the velocity. It's a natural aspect of a teenager growing and maturing. The other concern is players who are a bit older who have an uptick in velocity and then blow out their arm almost immediately (Rob Whitenack comes to mind).

  16. Per Ben Badler, the Cubs are likely to sign another Mexican IFA. Thank goodness for the Mexican IFA bonus cap loophole, seeing as Serrano is considered one of the best pitchers in next year's class: The Cardinals have jumped to the front of the bidding for Cuban reliever Hector Mendoza.
