  1. Or Connor Wong. ETA: Never mind. The Dodgers just popped him.
  2. There go a couple of the top college bats in KJ Harrison and Luis Gonzalez.
  3. was he an old school overslot or just a great diamond in the rough find? Both, in a way. He wasn't THAT highly ranked, from what I remember. Maybe top 100ish or so? With a bonus in the 500-700k range? Too lazy to look it up. He wasn't a BA top 200 prospect but he was Tennessee's top recruit and got a $750k bonus.

  5. The idea isn't that they need to fill out full season lineups, but that there's an imbalance in the low levels. Sure there's IFA guys who will filter in, but that's always going to happen and they sign IFA pitchers too. HS hitters may be harder to come by because of bonus issues though, in which case, I'm more than okay with several college hitters. I'm OK with taking a few college hitters too. The problem though, is the scarcity of them. I don't want to be adding all-defense guys, just to add some position players. We may get lucky and have some semblance of a bat available in the 3rd, but after that, our best bet is an over slot HS kid, of some sort. There are still good college bats out there. Harrison and Skoug probably have the best bats available and Adams isn't bad considering he should stick at catcher. ETA: Forgot Connor Wong is out there too. He should stick at catcher too.
  6. First post has been updated with the Cubs' day one picks.
  7. Looks like Jose Paulino is now in the bullpen with Dylan Cease back.
  8. FYI, davell, JJ Schwarz hit 2 home runs in 2 games today for Florida. Even caught one of the games.

  10. Cubs 2nd rounder: LMU RHP Cory Abbot. Got to be a massive underslot guy. BA's #149:
  11. No. Not as good as Lester. I doubt he'll develop the outstanding command that young Lester had. I've heard S. Kazmir and P. Gammons said B. Finnegan, which I think is a solid comp. B. Finnegan was really good with KC right after he got drafted. I thought Gammons only comped Finnegan because he thought Little could pitch in a big league bullpen at the end of his draft year too.
  12. There go three high dollar prep pitchers in a row - Perez (TJS), Sauer and Carlson. Still 13 picks to go...
  13. I'd love to make a run at Carlson, Allen or Beck. Sauer too, but I prefer the other three.
  14. There goes Griffin Canning. I really hope he still gets paid.
  15. I wasn't that intrigued with Lange either. He's not glamorous and I don't like reliever concerns for a college junior but I've long learned that the non-glamorous pitchers have a better success rate. I was more interested in Rasmussen and obviously Beck.
  16. I think you can sign Little for a bit under slot (he transferred from a really good baseball school to a JC for a reason). I think Lange will go for slot. Both were picked around where they were ranked on most online publications' boards.
