  1. Wow, Carson Sands is starting for the AZL Cubs. 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 1-0 GO-FO
  2. 3-5 in their last 8, against the bottom-feeding Padres, Pirates, and Braves. Sad! This swag will be even better once we are actually ahead of the vaunted Brewers in the standings. The Cubs are already ahead in the loss column.
  3. Woo! And the vaunted Brewers have lost two straight to the Braves.
  4. Pitching, you've got Jose Albertos, who you know about. Brailyn Marquez is a projectable lefty that's still a bit raw. Was the top lefty pitching prospect in the J-2 2015 class(weak class admittedly). Faustino Carrera is another lefty worth paying attention to. But, he's not exciting. He knows how to pitch though. Not a lot of projection, but he was excellent in the DSL. Yunior Perez throws hard, as does Fauris Guerrero. Perez was a pretty big bonus guy too. Hitting, you've got Delvin Zinn. He's not much of a bat, but he can pick it at short. He's a bit older, so he needs to get off to a solid start. Yonathan Perlaza is a squatty 2B that got a mill plus bonus in 2015. Should be spraying line drives all over. May not stick at 2B. Jose Gutierrez is an athletic CF that was supposed to be very raw, but really wasn't. He's got pop, solid fielder, good all around prospect. He's another 2015 J-2 guy. And you've got Jonathan Sierra. Very raw. Big upside. Big dude. Should develop plenty of power. Cubs gave him 2.5 mill in 2015. Pure projection, but he's got a good eye, just needs to change his swing path. You'll also start seeing draftees show up at ANY point. Some will move quickly from Arizona to Eugene, maybe even SB. I'd also add Nathan Sweeney, a RHP from last year's draft who was a rare prep pitcher to sign after the 10th round. He only got a $100k bonus but was committed to a good baseball school in Arizona.
  5. Just an FYI, Lange gave up what should have been a 2-run double in that third but the umps ruled it foul and inexplicably didn't review it.

  10. Sorry to quote myself but: [tweet] [/tweet] Do you get a notification when you do that? Haha. No.
  11. Also, when he was drafted, I thought his name was Erlich a la Erlich Bachman. It was pretty disappointing to find out it's not but I think I'm still going to call him Erlich.

  14. I've seen this a few times on here but they aren't going to move a guy from the DSL to the AZL now. Promoting a non-American midseason to the US is incredibly rare across baseball for obvious reasons.
  15. The Bulls did realize they didn't have to trade Butler, right?

  18. I don't know about you but I hated it when the Cubs out-talented the Giants, Dodgers and Indians last fall.
  19. The "scouts take" on Cubs picks from The Athletic (really nothing new): Weird to reference a curve when Abbott's big out pitch is his slider (which he famously learned by watching video of Noah Syndergaard).
  20. Definitely need a lefty. Duensing sucks By the end of the season and in the playoffs, Montgomery will be in the pen for sure but Hand (or Doolittle) would be a nice addition against a team like the Dodgers. I'm all for the Cubs to win it the way the Royals did in 2015, with a mediocre rotation and a super elite bullpen.
