  1. Quality start for Lackey in a game the Cubs will lose. Worst of all worlds.
  2. So does the approach of constantly trying to tie it up with 1 swing when a runner is on. So you want Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo to completely change the approaches that gave them all their big-league success?
  3. Sure seemed like that was a good opportunity for the old pop off the bag replay reversal.
  4. Thanks for the Wilson update and welcome to the board!
  5. Those 2 quality starts are part of a run of having 4 quality starts out of 14. His ERA is 66th of 74 qualified starters, and his FIP is dead last. I agree they won't DFA him for Hendricks, but when they add another SP or maybe even when they get Anderson back he's not secure in his roster spot. EDIT: More to the point, I'd like to imagine that come 8/1 the rotation has Lester, Hendricks, trade acquisition, Arrieta, and Montgomery, with Butler back in Iowa in reserve and Anderson fulfilling Montgomery's previous role. The timing of Lackey's departure depends on several factors(when a trade happens, when Hendricks and Anderson are healthy), but I would hope that he's the one that doesn't have a home when the dust settles. I agree with this for the most part, but I'm betting on an extended DL stint rather than the Cubs cutting him. Given his relationship with Lester, I see them handling it as delicately as possible. He can sit on the DL through August and come back when rosters expand. That is, unless Lackey takes issue with this plan, in which case, they'll send him packing. I'm not sure how much Lackey will go along with a plan for a phantom DL stint. I also worry that they'll struggle to DFA/DL him because of his shitty personality, veteraniness and ability to eat innings.
  6. Lackey isn't getting DFA'd. As recently as mid-June, he had consecutive quality starts and he's ahead of Anderson and Butler on the pecking order so he'll have a spot even after Hendricks returns. Disappointing, I know.
  7. What a weird game. Both teams scored 1 in the 11th. Backup catcher Tyler Payne threw 4 scoreless and then Boise scored 4 in the top of the 20th against a real pitcher. Eugene countered with 2 and even brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the 20th. Boise scored more runs in the 20th than they did in the first 19 innings. And then they had their fireworks at 2:30 am.
  8. Looks like Tseng and Hedges flipped places.

  10. I hate sacrificing but man is there something beautiful about bunt hit.
  11. I think he was just getting his ass kicked in SB. Kind of weird he took six weeks off in Arizona if he had a phantom injury. And quite the coincidence he played only half the game yesterday in his first appearance back, just like a rehabber normally does.
  12. And Zobrist needs to actually back the play up. Throw was nowhere near bad enough to skip into the outfield.
  13. Schwarber Fan blew up his game thread-typing hands in a tragic fireworks accident or he just forgot there was a game today so here I am. Go CUBS !!
  14. Heyward off the DL, Leathersich called up. Candelario Anson Peña down. Leathersich has had some great numbers recently (though he's still prone to outings where he has no control) and is definitely worth a look as a second lefty in the pen.
