  1. I haven't. And I know quite a few others who haven't.
  2. I just saw this on the news and I believe the actual question was something like "How long until you have a permanent leadoff hitter." Corey wasn't mentioned. I wasn't completely paying attention, but I believe the reporter lead-in to the question by mentioning Corey.
  3. That's Matt's professional debut, no? EDIT: Yes it was.
  4. Has Neifi been hitting the ball as hard as Dusty just said he was in the postgame show? (I haven't been able to watch a game in over a week.)
  5. Wouldn't it be every so nice to see Baker fired this offseason and replaced with a competent manager? Too bad it won't happen. :(
  6. Fair enough, I have no problem trading Corey if it improves the team. That's a bit different from just booing his every move (just like the fans booed every ball LaTroy threw).
  7. I doubt it. At this point, I bet Corey could go 4 for 5 with a cycle, make a few wonderful defensive plays and strike out in his last AB and get booed unmercifully. Now that I doubt. I was using a bit of hyperbole, but I wouldn't put it past the Wrigley faithful. The other day, he made the game-saving defensive double play and got cheered. He came up in the bottom of the inning, struck out (on what seemed like a really questionable pitch) and got booed.
  8. What was the problem? Apparently the hard drive was fried. We got a new hard drive yesterday, and I was only able to properly install it now (the tech support folks over the phone at DirectTV aren't that competent :x). And maybe I was better off not watching the Cubs. :|

  10. Most importantly, my DirectTV is working again and I'm watching the Cubs for the first time in over a week!!! :D \:D/
  11. Oh we can more than contend with Patterson. But Dusty right now is not putting Patterson in a position to even succeed. Dusty should sit him for a few games. Let him catch his breath. And then exclusivly bat him in the 7th hole. Don't put the pressure of leading off on him and don't try to turn him into something he is not. I think it's at the point where Corey just isn't going to be successful in Chicago. He's the new LaTroy Hawkins. Getting rid of 30+ year old reliever who had a bad couple of years is different than getting rid of a 25 year old CF who as recently as last year had stretches of brilliance. Put Corey in a low presse part of the lineup and stop trying to turn him into Lou Brock. I think he can be an above average player (maybe not a star but well worth having around) for us but not if Dusty, the media and the fans keep trying to play with the kid's head. His play is unacceptable it's that simple. If you ask me, he deserves to get booed. Booing him also doesn't help him break out of it. He knows he's played bad, all booing does is to help continue his poor play and drop his trade value. Not every player the fans boo out of town can net Jerome Williams and David Aardsma.
  12. Because one is 5'7" and the other 6'6"? It's their fault they're not 6'! Well Lee's is understandable, but Corey's height shouldn't have an impact on the inside corner. All a pitcher has to do to get an easy strike three called on Patterson is throw a bad 2-seam fastball 2 inchches inside. Who knows what effect it has on Corey when he has a good grasp of the strike zone and earns a walk and yet isn't rewarded. Eh, I was being facetious. Patterson hasn't been getting the benefit of the doubt on pitch calls at all this year, which hasn't helped him much. Based on the last two years, umps seem to really struggle with determining what is Derrek's strike zone.
  13. Because one is 5'7" and the other 6'6"? It's their fault they're not 6'!
  14. right. Torre abused him and now he is done. That excuse would wash a bit more if it wasn't for the fact that Quantrill have been just as useless this year as he was at the end of the last year, despite the five month winter break. Is he still throwing 5-7 mph slower than early last season?
  15. I believe he's lost some weight since he was traded. I'd guess in the time he was in Iowa, he could have lost 10 lbs., which isn't much, but is something. He was weighing in at 260 when he was traded.
  16. Post in more threads (while intoxicated), plz. Great. With Raisin's new avatar it's going to feel like he's yelling every post. I WAS CONSIDERING MAKING ALL MY POSTS IN CAPS.
  17. I'm loving how my DirectTV is out so I can't watch the game.
  18. Ouch, poor Felix. He'll have missed over a month, then. :(

  20. Welcome to the board! I think Pawelek will go too, he'd be on his proper 4 days rest.
  21. I don't know how anyone can be shocked that Corey is leading off after he got 2 hits yesterday. That sort of performance upholds Dusty's thinking. I'm really upset that Ronny hasn't gotten a start yet. And good to see Aramis back in the lineup.
  22. Oh sorry, I just saw four consecutive games against Kane County on Peoria's schedule and assumed they'd all be in Geneva.
  23. Iowa*: LHP Rich Hill (2-1, 3.55 ERA) @ RHP John Hudgins (2-4, 4.62 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (6-4, 3.87 ERA) vs. LHP Ryan Costello (0-4, 8.22 ERA) Daytona: RHP Anderson Tavarez (3-6, 5.59 ERA) Peoria: RHP Sean Gallagher (8-2, 1.43 ERA) vs. LHP Matt Campbell (1-5, 3.94 ERA) Boise: LHP Alex Santana (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 7 IP) Mesa: Just a guess - LHP Mark Pawelek (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2.2 IP) Serena left me with this info on the Peoria-Burlington game: For those interested in next week's Peoria Chiefs-Kane County Cougars series in Geneva, the matchups are: Monday: RHP Grant Johnson Tuesday: LHP Chris Shaver Wednesday: RHP Jesse Estrada Thursday: RHP Sean Gallagher *IowaCubs.com has Wellemeyer starting today, but he threw 3 innings yesterday.
