  1. still 60. no one specific to follow him now. 75 for Berg on Wednesday. Bullpen may get a lot of work the next two days Why is Berg on a strict pitch count? Wasn't he starting in the Yankees farm system?
  2. The Cubs sure do seem to have a lot of them. I thought the idea was to trade for postion players with all this young pitching since the Cubs don't prefer to draft them. You bring up a good point. All those pitching prospects we brought up this year havent done squat. It also doesnt seem like we have a power OF ready to come up for us. I think Harvey might be our only power OFer we have and hes not even close to ready. Hopefully the power Pie displayed in the first half will carry over for a full season. Sing is also a power hitter and his future (with the Cubs) would be as an OF. Yeah, but are they ready to come up any time soon? Still that leaves only 3 power hitting players. I dont know that just doesnt sound like too many players with power for an entire organization. Players or OFs? Because I'd add Dope and Moore if you're counting just players. I think Sing is ready for the big leagues, the Cubs seem to think Pie is ready with all the talk of promoting him pre-injury (though I disagree on Pie's readiness). Either way, both Sing and Pie are at AA and less than a year away from the big leagues.
  3. Sizemore please. Seriously though, some combo of Riske, Betancourt, Crisp, etc. might work, although trading Walker because someone is willing to trade for him isn't the wisest of choices. The players coming from Cleveland would have to either: 1) be guys that could pass through waivers themselves or 2) not be on the 40 man roster. Adam Miller or Jeremy Sowers, plz.

  5. They also have a chance at a wildcard spot, like Peoria. Now sure how it would break down, though. Congrats to Sean. :)
  6. I hear Shoulders isn't a fan of the song...
  7. I don't think it's fair to ask a baseball player to change positions while he's trying to break into the big leagues.
  8. Thanks, Serena. I knew Garza's name sounded familiar from somewhere.
  9. I'm not as optimistic as you. I don't think Dusty gets fired this offseason. :( Did I just say I wasn't as optimistic as dkwg!?!?
  10. Who says? Id rather have two average defenders who are in the top 25% offensively for relatively cheap. Especially considering the offensive question marks we will undoubtedly once again be entering the season with in the OF. Ever notice the pitching and defense aren't that good either. Get Giles to solve the offensive problem. Brian Giles alone will not solve this offense's problems, especially when you take out Walker or Garciaparra's bat.
  11. Katrina might affect the West Tenn game: At game time, the forecast is for winds and a 30% chance of showers. They're expecting up to 5" of rain to have already fallen by game time. Here's the radar, Jackson, is getting hit hard right now: http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_tup_closeradar_medium_usen.jpg
  12. Probable Pitchers Iowa: RHP Jon Leicester (2-7, 5.38 ERA) @ RHP Ryan Jensen (1-10, 7.41 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Carlos Marmol (3-4, 3.74 ERA) Daytona: RHP Matt Weber (Peoria: 7-9, 3.91 ERA) vs. RHP Jose Garcia (4-4, 4.67 ERA) Peoria: RHP Angel Guzman (Mesa: 0-0, 1.50 ERA, 12 IP) @ RHP Matt Garza (2-3, 4.09 ERA) - 2005 1st rounder (25th overall) from Fresno St. Boise: LHP Darin Downs (4-4, 3.59 ERA) Mesa: no clue, maybe RHP David Taylor (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 4 IP) Weber makes his Daytona debut, Guzman makes his Peoria debut.
  13. I'll be there tomorrow and possibly Wed., they did pass out free tickets as we were leaving tonight for Wednesday's game. Free tickets? Wow.
  14. If they want Cedeno to play everyday all they have to do is bench Neifi Perez. Get Ced some experience @ 2b and ante up for Furcal in the offseason. It would be nice to have some range up the middle. I'd rather see what he can do at SS everyday. May free up some money to make a trade for a GREAT corner outfielder. Agreed. The 2B is the third best hitter on the team, why get rid of him and create an extra hole to fill this offseason?
  15. Thanks, UK. You going tomorrow or Wednesday to see Guzman/Berg or Johnson?
  16. No thanks. Keep Walker and his cheap option, trade Neifi or bench him.
  17. Source? Straight from Hendry's mouth on Comcast sports net. Thank you. We remain at 12 pitchers on the 25-man.
  18. Dubois for Gerut for Lawton for Berg. Hendry sure took the roundabout way of getting this guy. Perhaps this was the master plan all along. I believe Berg starts tomorrow in Peoria. No, he won't. Angel Guzman will start with Berg piggybacking in Beloit tomorrow. This will happen again on Sunday in Peoria. I thought it was a doubleheader. That's what I thought? Guzman in the first game, Berg in the second? I could be wrong........... No, there will be just one game tomorrow in Beloit. Guzman and Berg will be piggybacking.
  19. A player can't be promoted back for 10 days since his demotion, and Matt hadn't finished his 10 days when McClain was promoted. Also, theoretically, Scott can play 3B. Matt will be back when rosters expand. i fully understand the 10 day rule. i am questioning the foresight of management. Garciaparra is playing third, so i fail to see your point... besides, there's always Macias... What foresight? How could they have predicted Aramis was going to get hurt? And it was better for Murton to be demoted and actually get ABs - it became obvious Dusty wasn't going to start Murton too much. Yeah< i know about Macias, which is why I said "theoretically."
  20. The Cubs better not trade Walker unless they get something good in return.
  21. Steve Lyons won't let go about Bartman. Vin Scully better be doing the FSN West 2 TV broadcast tomorrow.
