  1. Apparently I was on WGN when Aramis hit his first-inning homer. I was scampering towards the ball and it landed about 10' from me. Rusch was embarassingly bad. A few Cubs fans behind me actually hoped he got hurt when the liner hit him. Pierre impressed me. Jae-Kuk Ryu looked impressive, even when he gave up some hard hit balls in his second inning of work. Rusch and Blanco before the game: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson1.jpg Rusch looks sad (maybe he knows he's not going to have a good game): http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson2.jpg Walrond warming up in the pen: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson4.jpg Howry entering the game: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson3.jpg Late in the game, a bunch of Cubs players ran by the warning track. I waved to Ronny Cedeno and he said "what's up" back to me. Also talked to Sam Fuld for a bit between innings. Cedeno: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson7.jpg Pierre, Pie, Hairston: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson6.jpg Ryu (apparently I thought he was faster than he really is): http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson5.jpg Pie, Pierre, Hairston with Montanez leading the way: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson8.jpg Aardsma entering the game: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson9.jpg I felt so gross being surrounded by so many White Sox and Illini fans. :P
  2. Sorry, I was sitting pretty far back from the action, so the pics aren't that great. Aramis rounding the bases after his HR: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/giants2.jpg Marquis Grissom and Felix Pie between innings: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/giants1.jpg You guys weren't the only ones who didn't know that was Federico Baez - the Giants PA guy said, "your attention please, now pitching for the Cubs...number 57." Maddux looked good. Hairston was awful in LF. He took a bad route on every fly ball there. Felix Pie made a spectacular catch on a fly ball late in the game. The teenage girl sitting next to me was a Giants fan and apparently her family knew Neifi Perez. She said Neifi got them tickets to Giants games a few years ago. She was all excited when Neifi came up. I wasn't.
  3. Well, I've seen Maddux pitch a few times before in my life - I'd have much preferred seeing some of the potential 5th starters and favorite prospects of mine since I've never seen them pitch live. Also, Maddux isn't exactly at the HOF-level that he was during his prime, and Rusch is just awful.
  4. So when I'm in Arizona, I get to see Maddux and Rusch. And after I leave, Hill, Guzman and Marshall are pitching. Grr...
  5. It's at 11:57 am, Friday, Korean Standard Time. Oh good, that means it's an evening game on the west coast.
  6. Bo was working out with the Daytona guys on Friday too. Another fan asked him where he thought he'd start the year and he said Daytona.
  7. The finger injury was from 2004 and the ensuing offseason. Sean's coming off a shoulder injury that ended his 2005 season prematurely.
  8. Kudos to U-Dub for representing the Pac-10 well too. Thank goodness for Arron Afflalo. Luc Richard better start making his FTs, those misses were killing me down the stretch. Is the Gonzaga-UCLA game really at 4 ET? What the hell sort of time is that for a game in Oakland between two Pacific time zone teams? :x
  9. Everything starts the day after I leave. Sad day! :(
  10. LaMarcus!! LaMarcus!! LaMarcus!!
  11. You should talk. 27 is ancient.
  12. No, but Nathan told me the minor league games start on the 21st.
  13. Ditto for UCLA (though they aren't as athletic as KU, especially Farmar and Afflalo in the backcourt). I could as easily see the Bruins losing to Alabama/Marquette in the second round as going to the Final 4.
  14. You are a great man. Of course I am. :D
  15. Did you see Chadd Blasko or Billy Petrick around?
  16. I voted 4 times today - one with each college e-mail of mine and then with a personal one.
  17. Yeah, I've had some random freak injuries lately too, but would two of them be considered injury prone? I burned my hand in December when a heat pack exploded onto me. And just the other day, I fainted while sitting down in a meeting at work and fell to the ground, getting a concussion and a nice gash as I hit a chair along the way. But I can't beat Novoa or Aramis's injuries.
  18. Ok, seriously... Texas KU BC UConn The Elite 8: Duke UCLA Villanova UNC
  19. I, like Tim, would rather see Brandon get some time at AAA (and work on his OF defense).
  20. I'm assuming sarcasm? Of course. Oh my, Mike Seidman has turned up on an NFL roster? Wow. He's been the Panthers' backup tight end for the past two seasons, I believe. Cool. I always thought he'd be an NFL starter, shows how good a scout I'd be.
  21. I'm assuming sarcasm? Of course. Oh my, Mike Seidman has turned up on an NFL roster? Wow.
  22. I have Cal, UCLA, Washington and Arizona as my Final Four. UCLA over U-Dub in the championship.
  23. Have the Cubs won the simulated WS yet? Over the last two seasons with Wood and Prior going every game they've probably had a good chance to do so. The Cubs are 35-11 in simulated games over the last two years. JoBo and Rusch haven't held up their end of the rotation. Still 24 games over 500 is pretty nice. 35-11 is real nice, quite probably leading the NL Central, may in fact, be the NL's best record. only record...best record. same difference i guess Don't get too cocky, Ben Sheets might catch up sooner or later.
  24. SSR, UCLA as a 4-seed?? Why that low? I figured we'd get a 3-seed. So am I. But that includes Memphis, and that's why I picked Raisin's Bruins to go to the title game. I wish, but I don't think it will happen.
