    Geez, Sotolongo and Rayborn have completely blown the Chiefs' 8-2 lead in the 7th. After 7, it's now 9-8, Beloit.

    He was throwing it towards Long Beach/the Pacific Ocean (due south). The wind must have done some nice tricks to make it go east.

    Yepez getting some groundballs now - he got a GIDP to end the 4th. 4 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1/2, 2 GIDPs, 49 pitches Peoria scores 2 more in the 5th, it's now 8-2. EDIT: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2/2, 2 GIDPs

    But the Chiefs have regained the lead here in the 4th, and are still threatening. Geez, the Chiefs have broken it open now, 6-2. Still in the 4th. They're now up to the 9th batter of the inning.

    But jigman (honest question), is Rothschild calling the game from the dugout if it's Maddux, Z or Rusch? couldn't tell you with Rusch. with Maddux, it appears Michael is calling the game this year, but I recall the calls in Maddux games often came from the dugout last year. Z worked mostly with Blanco last year, but Barrett called the game the other night. I do know that last year and the year before, nearly every pitch a bullpen pitcher threw when Barrett was catching came from the dugout. edit: well the pitch didn't literally come from the dugout...you know what I mean It's not to say that I don't think Rotschild does or doesn't call the games for the veterans (I think Maddux at least would have the leeway to call his own game) - it's just that I'm not sure who is to fault (and don't want to rush to blame) at the sometimes questionable pitch selection.

    Not really, he was hitting .318/.448/.614 on the season and had two shots that would have been HRs if they weren't playing in Chavez Ravine the last few days.

    I couldn't tell from where I was sitting, but it looked like he had poor control on his curve - much worse than Marshall's lack of control. Was this right or was he also missing with his FB?

    He did work hard on the conditioning last offseason. It is to be expected that he faded a bit last season, since it was his first full pro season - way more IP and a longer season than in HS.

    He goes to the TV for the 4th - 6th and then back to radio in the 7th - 9th. Nah, but that looked horrible - both live and on the jumbotron (replay). Most of the Cubs fans booed Furcal heartily when he came up the next time. Yes. They were booing that they had to check on Eyre too. Jerks. For those who were complaining that the announcers were saying Lee was going to stay in - he actually grabbed his glove and looked like he was going to stay in the game. I was pretty stunned that he'd stay in, especially with how much pain he was in. About 10-15 seconds later, he walked off. Hope Eyre and Lee's injuries aren't too bad. :( And even if Furcal wasn't to blame, I hate him now.

    After a HBP and a flyout, Holliman is relieved in the 7th by Carlos Vasquez, who gets the final two outs of the inning. Holliman's line: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 7/1, 3 HBPs On that note, I'm off to Dodger Stadium.

    Nic Jackson with a 2-run HR! 4-0 Daytona! Fox and Craig follow with singles and now Salas walks. The bases are juiced for Simokaitis.

    The D-Cubs are facing the Mets' Mike Pelfrey, the #9 pick in last year's draft. Rick with an RBI single to knock in Salas to make it 2-0 D-Cubs. These are the first 2 runs that Pelfrey has given up all year. Holliman: 5 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 5/1, 2 HBP
