  1. Just furthering the 'dislikeable' tag.... I really have no rooting interest in this game, though I can't stand Joey Porter. And if they had called the delay of game and everything else had been the same, Randle-El would have been short of the first down.
  2. That should have been a delay of game.
  3. Seattle seems to be getting SCREWED by the refs. Madden and Michaels are being very diplomatic, but it seems like the refs have just screwed Seahawks over and over. They had a TD called back in the first half, the BS hold on the pass that went to the 1, even the BS illegal hit by Hasselbeck on the INT. I'm not a Seattle fan, but it's a shame. Agreed on all three calls. At least the reversed the fumble call.
  4. I guess it isn't just me, but the refs seem to be making some bad calls against Seattle.
  5. Wow, the wheels fell off in the 3rd. :(
  6. Is UCLA the only tourney team out there? Can Cal get in? Besides UCLA, Cal and Washington will probably get in. Stanford might have a chance too (though they probably have to win the Pac-10 to get in).
  7. Yeah, that was 99.
  8. UCLA beats Arizona 84-73 for their first sweep of the Wildcats since 1996-1997. Arron Afflalo broke out of his shooting slump. Washington loses its 3rd in a row, 77-64 at WSU. WSU has 3 Pac-10 wins, 2 of them against U-Dub. Following their upset over Arizona, USC loses to last-place ASU at home, 68-65.
  9. Preach it, raw!
  10. I can see Dempster doing that, but definitely not Cedeno or Murton. Wow.
  11. Why the Red Sox?
  12. I own a "They Gone! Since 1917" shirt that I bought for fun last summer. Naturally it's worth nothing now. Plz buy a shirt that notes the Cubs haven't won since 1908. Now.
  13. Uhh, Eugene Wilson?
  14. UCLA beats ASU. USC upsets Arizona at the Sports Arena.
  15. The second half of the Pac-10 season starts today. Current standings: 1. UCLA 7-2 (17-4) 2. Cal 6-3 (12-6) 2. Arizona 6-3 (13-7) 2. Stanford 6-3 (10-7) 5. Washington 5-4 (16-4) 5. USC 5-4 (14-6) 7. Oregon 4-5 (10-11) 8. Oregon State 3-6 (10-10) 9. Washington State 2-7 (9-9) 10. Arizona State 1-8 (7-11)
  16. Singler promised KU a visit. He'd be a nice Downs replacement. I see. Well, he can't make any official visits till he's a senior next year, but I'm sure he'll also visit Arizona and Oregon to boot. This will be Love's second unofficial visit to UCLA. A win over Arizona would be helpful on Saturday, I know the Bruin Den will make a good impression on both Love and Singler. :) I've heard he'll only take 3 visits--UCLA, Duke, KU. UCLA seems to have the lead from what I've read. However, I 've also read there is no guaranteed Love/Singler package deal. Where are you hearing only 3 visits? Everything I've read seems to indicate UNC is as high as the others. I don't think Love/Singler are a package, especially given the differences in their top choices. But, Love came back from his previous unofficial to UCLA and really seemed to sell it to Singler, who put UCLA towards the top of his list. I hope UCLA has the lead on Kyle, haven't read anything about him really favoring any of his top choices. I read it somewhere on phog.net, so it might not be accurate. Well, my source is mostly Scout.com though the Daily Bruin and LA Times were saying the same thing. My friend just showed me Love and Singler's MySpace pages. There's some fool from UNC who's writing essays trying to get them to be Tar Heels. On Singler's MySpace page, a Dukies actually started arguing with the Tar Heel guy.
  17. I wish Karl Dorrell was so embarassed by his recruiting after a 10-2 season that he'd quit in shame. At least he's figured out how important the OL and DL is. Christian Ramirez could be a sleeper if they stick him at RB, WR Terence Austin was a good pickup.

  19. I should probably get on acquiring it (and the BA Prospect Handbook).

  21. The Oregon kids, 6'9" C Kevin Love and 6'8" F Kyle Singler, the third and sixth-rated HS juniors in the country (according to Scout), are unofficially visiting UCLA on Friday and Saturday. Love has UCLA, North Carolina and Duke as his top 3 choices, Singler has UCLA and Duke as his top choices. They are close friends, so there is a good chance both will end up at the same school.
  22. Wow...what a way to win and lose a game. Dentmon (the freshman who committed the foul) sat on the bench and looked like he was going to cry all OT.
  23. Umm, wow. Anyone watch the UW-Stanford game? Washington made 2 FTs with 2 seconds to go, giving them a 3 point lead. Stanford lobs it to midcourt where Matt Haryasz catches and passes the ball to a streaking Chris Hernandez who goes up for a last second 3-pointer...and is fouled by freshman Justin Dentmon with 0.2 seconds left. Hernandez then makes his 3 FTs to send the game to OT, where Stanford dominates and beats Washington. This was the foul with 0.2 seconds left: http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060130/capt.caps10601300402.washington_stanford_basketball_caps106.jpg UCLA leads the Pac-10 by 1 game over Arizona, Cal and Stanford and 2 games over Washington and USC.
  24. Amazing facts there, Diffusion. I had been under the impression that Dusty Baker probably screwed Derrek Lee out of an MVP award, now I don't think there's any question about it. Someone should really show this stuff to Lee. Getting the team's stars angry at Dusty would be the fastest way to get rid of him. Let me just quickly do this properly... All-Time (excluding Derrek Lee's 2005) 110 or more XBH, average of 173 RBI 105 or more XBH, average of 160 RBI 100 or more XBH, average of 155 RBI 95 or more XBH, average of 152 RBI 90 or more XBH, average of 145 RBI 85 or more XBH, average of 136 RBI 80 or more XBH, average of 128 RBI 75 or more XBH, average of 122 RBI Post-1945 (excluding Derrek Lee's 2005) 105 or more XBH, average of 142 RBI 100 or more XBH. average of 141 RBI 95 or more XBH, average of 139 RBI 90 or more XBH, average of 133 RBI 85 or more XBH, average of 130 RBI 80 or more XBH, average of 123 RBI 75 or more XBH, average of 119 RBI I think the post-1945 (an arbitrary cut-off point, but I think it serves its purpose) is more relevant. Relative to the post-1945 average, Lee fell about 33 RBI short. And let's just say that, given that he hit .331/.480/.653 with runners in scoring position, the falling short wasn't Lee's fault. Had Lee got those extra 33 RBI, he'd have easily led the league in RBI (as well as average), so he'd have been 6 home runs short of the Triple Crown. Outstanding work. Just further shows that this management team is clueless. Patterson, Neifi, Lawton and Macias combined for over 350 at bats in the lead off spot and sported .263, .263, .269 and .270 OBP's respectively. Perez, Patterson, Neifi and Enrique Wilson combined for over 360 at bats in the 2 hole, and sported .300, .220, .286 and .200 OBP's respectively. Murton and Cedeno both have done very well in their limited role at the top of the order, yet Hendry says they aren't ready to hit the top of the order yet. Apparently, you can't hit at the top of the order until you prove you can get your OBP to dip below .300. That might also explain why Walker and Hairston have been long time members of Dusty's doghouse. They were the two guys who could actually get on base at a decent clip, yet Hairston got more bench time than he deserved, and they can't wait to trade Walker. I don't get it. Really? They each got almost 400 AB's last year despite both missing significant time with injuries. Maybe Hairston's leg injury had something to do with him getting "more bench time than he deserved". By his own admission we was not 100% so running him out there every day may not have been a good idea. Last time I checked Dusty isn't the GM so I don't see why Hendry wanting to trade Walker means he is in "Dusty's doghouse". (BTW - that would be a great name if Dusty wanted to start a hot dog joint in Wrigleyville  ) It sounded like Dusty wasn't too fascinated with Walker at the convention and caravan stops. If he doesn't want to play someone, it'd be hard to believe he doesn't have some sort of sway with the GM that hired him. But Hendry is definitely partly to blame. He has provided these players and Dusty has overplayed them. And Hendry's love affair with defense at the expense of a poor offense isn't going to help.
