  1. Yes, that's right. And Maddux just served up a 3-run shot to Mike Piazza. 3-2 Fathers.
  2. A leadoff single, a steal and a single by the #2 hitter?? Have we done that in this century? Followed by an RBI-single by Aramis. Aramis has a hit in 7 consecutive games. Jacque Jones flies out to deep right center field, Todd Walker tags and scores. Mabry grounds into a 4-6-3 DP. 2-0 Cubs in the middle of the first.
  3. Juan Pierre with a leadoff bloop single over Khalil Greene's head.
  4. Adam Morrison has the flu, Jordan Farmar hurt his wrists in the Alabama game. Both will play though. Go Bruins!!
  5. I've been listening for about a half hour, but it'd be nice to hear some DJaxx talk. I hope I didn't miss all of it already. :(
  6. Yep, potshots at the other team. That's what we're all about here at NSBB. And racist remarks? What are you talking about? I'm not talking about anything specific. I'm just saying......... it's hard to deal with Cub fans here, because of the personal shots that they take. What racist or homophobic comments were made? If none were made, it'd be nice of you to not broadly accuse others here.
  7. That's exactly what Mike Marshall was saying on the Score Saturday morning. Throw all year, and get the muscles involved able to withstand overuse. It also seemed like he was against weight training for pitchers, but I came in on the middle of that conversation. Prior probably didn't throw much because he spent a lot of December in a San Diego hospital.
  8. That's the Mighty 1090 AM for those of us in So Cal who can't get San Diego's channel 4 (LA, Orange County and the Inland Empire). Good thing, because I should be in my car for part of the game. P.S. I used to (I think illegaly, but I'm not positive - the channel isn't supposed to air outside of San Diego County) get San Diego's Channel 4 at my apartment in Westwood when I went to UCLA.
  9. I didn't get a chance to see the intersquad game on Friday because I had to go to Scottsdale to see the Cubs-Giants game. On Sunday, most everything, including the intersquad games, was rained out (that was my planned day to see the minor leaguers play :(). I'll have a little blurb up and some average-at-best pics a little later.
  10. I saw him and talked to him last weekend. He said he was completely healthy and looked it while swinging the bat and shagging flyballs. Nic thought he was going to be headed to Iowa to start the season (and was practicing with the AAA guys). By the way, Nic's really funny and just seems like a great guy to hang out with.
  11. Before last season, he's been hurt off and on the previous 3 seasons. He still needs to improve the power.
  12. I'd rather have Kyle and see if he can progress while being a third stringer.
  13. No, no, you're not quite right...it's only crappy lefties and rookies that own us Don't worry, Ponson ate one of each this spring. The link to the story is here here. From reading scouting reports, I thought he already had been working on that sinking two-seamer last year? EDIT (from BA):
  14. Gotta hand it to you, raw. You handled that pretty calmly.
  15. Yeah. :( All the same, good season for the women of Westwood.
  16. [ url=http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=260321116 ]Boxscore[/url] Except without that space between the [ and url.
  17. Do I get a cookie for saying (last summer) that I like Marshall more and thought he was ahead of Hill?
  18. Apparently I was on WGN when Aramis hit his first-inning homer. I was scampering towards the ball and it landed about 10' from me. Rusch was embarassingly bad. A few Cubs fans behind me actually hoped he got hurt when the liner hit him. Pierre impressed me. Jae-Kuk Ryu looked impressive, even when he gave up some hard hit balls in his second inning of work. Rusch and Blanco before the game: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson1.jpg Rusch looks sad (maybe he knows he's not going to have a good game): http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson2.jpg Walrond warming up in the pen: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson4.jpg Howry entering the game: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson3.jpg Late in the game, a bunch of Cubs players ran by the warning track. I waved to Ronny Cedeno and he said "what's up" back to me. Also talked to Sam Fuld for a bit between innings. Cedeno: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson7.jpg Pierre, Pie, Hairston: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson6.jpg Ryu (apparently I thought he was faster than he really is): http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson5.jpg Pie, Pierre, Hairston with Montanez leading the way: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson8.jpg Aardsma entering the game: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/tucson9.jpg I felt so gross being surrounded by so many White Sox and Illini fans. :P
  19. Sorry, I was sitting pretty far back from the action, so the pics aren't that great. Aramis rounding the bases after his HR: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/giants2.jpg Marquis Grissom and Felix Pie between innings: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/nsbbnavin/giants1.jpg You guys weren't the only ones who didn't know that was Federico Baez - the Giants PA guy said, "your attention please, now pitching for the Cubs...number 57." Maddux looked good. Hairston was awful in LF. He took a bad route on every fly ball there. Felix Pie made a spectacular catch on a fly ball late in the game. The teenage girl sitting next to me was a Giants fan and apparently her family knew Neifi Perez. She said Neifi got them tickets to Giants games a few years ago. She was all excited when Neifi came up. I wasn't.
  20. Well, I've seen Maddux pitch a few times before in my life - I'd have much preferred seeing some of the potential 5th starters and favorite prospects of mine since I've never seen them pitch live. Also, Maddux isn't exactly at the HOF-level that he was during his prime, and Rusch is just awful.
  21. So when I'm in Arizona, I get to see Maddux and Rusch. And after I leave, Hill, Guzman and Marshall are pitching. Grr...
  22. It's at 11:57 am, Friday, Korean Standard Time. Oh good, that means it's an evening game on the west coast.
  23. Bo was working out with the Daytona guys on Friday too. Another fan asked him where he thought he'd start the year and he said Daytona.
  24. The finger injury was from 2004 and the ensuing offseason. Sean's coming off a shoulder injury that ended his 2005 season prematurely.
  25. Kudos to U-Dub for representing the Pac-10 well too. Thank goodness for Arron Afflalo. Luc Richard better start making his FTs, those misses were killing me down the stretch. Is the Gonzaga-UCLA game really at 4 ET? What the hell sort of time is that for a game in Oakland between two Pacific time zone teams? :x
