  1. Pick two WR DeSean Jackson @ SD Dwayne Bowe @ Dal Mike Wallace @ Ind Antonio Brown @ Cin Alshon Jeffery @ Min (Baring any further injury I can just repeat this list weekly except for 8, 9, and 12 where I have RB byes and need a a flex). Oh and two of my RB went down between draft and now (Vereen and Andre Brown-on draft night) both out until at least week 11.
  2. I really dislike all light macro beers, but if forced with the choice of the three big Americans, I do like Miller the best by a long shot for me with Coors slightly edging out Bud but usually behind, "don't drink" most of the time. If I'm drinking cheap though and have my choice I'll go with the non-light versions of any of those with a particular liking towards Coors or PBR if I'm not in Wicker Park and the hipsters have driven the price up to Craft Brew level.
  3. Green Line is their best beer anyways (other than maybe matilda) and is still locally brewed even if it's not locally owned anymore. I don't like 312 as much anymore, but I'm not sure if its just my changing taste or if the flavor changed once they move operations. I lean towards the former, but you never know what effect different water sources will yield. Did they ever start labeling 312 with local area codes and marketing as such? I remember reading that was their plan. Anyways I'd gladly drink an Old Style at the game, but I go so infrequently I don't mind just shelling out for a nicer beer too. I definitely remember last time I was at Wrigley being underwhelmed with the nice beer selections, so hopefully they get some other good crafts flowing along with Goose Island brands.
  4. Also, less drunk.
  5. Considering one of his teammates got taken out on the play while trying to recover the fumble, I'd say it did matter a little bit. He ended up coming back into the game later, but can you imagine how bad it would have been for him if that play cost one of his teammates a season ending injury? WHAT ABOUT THE 6 FANTASY POINTS IT COST ME!
  6. The important thing everyone is missing is the coaches have nothing to do with the depth chart posted on the Bears website.
  7. Without knowing exactly was available, I don't love any of your top 5 picks.
  8. I don't think anyone would say stole to imply he actively worked towards not getting to the big league team. But in a bitter fan use of the word he did, even though he just took the contract he was presented.
  9. Oh and that first part of the post could change "Hardin" to "Long" and third rounder to first rounder and have been read in July word for word. And that ones already looking different, so hindsight does kind of matter here (though Long could still fail, obviously, despite a strong pre season).
  10. Well Hardin was probably always a hit or miss since he had injury issues. That doesn't necessarily mean if you miss on a third rounder injury risk it was unwise. For Hardin? Well it looks like the upside wasn't even there if the injury portion worked out. Injury risks just need to be weighed against reward, but Hardins seems off, especially with hindsight. As far as Angelo's middle round prowess, he was living off a lot of early-mid 2000s hype by the end and a lot of our roster issues stemmed from our inability to draft and develop players who contributed. By the end of his reign I think we had one of the lowest ratios of homegrown players, and year to year the perennially good teams have a pretty high ratio, generally speaking. You build that in the middle rounds. So the bar isn't that high to match Angelo for middle round ability when seen in its entirety and not a relatively short span where he hit on a few.
  11. So is Slauson the backup C? I like Williams, but as long as Slauson can handle C, I guess this allows you to keep extra T/G bodies, and it would easier to shift outside guys inside that being left short handed on Tackles (if Mills struggles or there is an injury) Probably put a C on the practice squad, but yeah Slauson should be fine. Boggs I assume.
  12. The only reason you can say that is because he hasn't been on the field. He has tape. The little I've watched and what I've read from people who have watched more of it than me is that his athleticism doesn't transfer, even in preseason. But anyways, I said the initial comment less about his athleticism and more about more superficial things like Angelo's love for safeties as well as throwing in a few other recurring themes we saw at times like injury risks and CB-S converts. The athleticism thing has some merit as well though now that you bring it up. And I did defend the Hardin pick at the time. But it was obviously a miss. I wasn't trying to free Emery of blame, just putting his failure into terms we can identify with. I do think we can count on less Angelo type failures from Emery the longer our scouts work under him than Angelo (and thanks to the fact we have a more expansive scouting network now). We can re-evaluate this draft next year, but I think it looks stronger than year one at the same time.
  13. So is Slauson the backup C? I like Williams, but as long as Slauson can handle C, I guess this allows you to keep extra T/G bodies, and it would easier to shift outside guys inside that being left short handed on Tackles (if Mills struggles or there is an injury)
  14. Agreed on the scheme part. Emery cares less about scheme. Still, from an athleticism standpoint, I think Hardin stands out from Emery's other "athletic" picks as someone with less on the field athleticism than workout athleticism. Going back to drafts in Atlanta and KC, I think this stays fairly true as well.
  15. Those things never work. I agree. I can see the desire in keeping him given his potential (especially since the other TEs behind Bennett can't catch) but the odds are stacked against him having success and keeping 4 TEs would be unwise given injuries and depth elsewhere on the roster. Have to agree. If you think you need the extra receiving TE, it should come at the expense of one of your three blocking TE/FB. And it also shouldn't be such a project.
  16. It was a very Angelo type pick, weirdly. Not sure what you mean by that. It was very much an Emery like pick. He likes big freaks of nature and doesn't care about a lack of college playing time or perceived value. When I look at the athletic freaks Emery drafted they showed that freakishness on the field more than Hardins tape. Even a guy like Long showed on the field athleticism, even in limited snaps. Then you have the contingency of non athletic freaks like Jeffrey and Mills. I think it's very accurate to say Emery's idea of athletic freaks is not the same as Angelo's (pool jumper). But beyond the athleticism, oft injured CB converting to safety in third round seems up Angelo's alley. Some combination of those factors was seen a lot during Angelo's run.
  17. Only McClellin, Jeffery and Frey will remain with the team from last year's draft when Hardin is cut. On the flip side, it seems like a given that every player from this year's draft will make the team. I don't think that's all fluke either. There is some random variance, but having a full year to implement your system and the additional scouts they brought on surely must have made a difference (although its kind of early to grade either draft, especially this one).
  18. Hate risking losing Minter. Well I'm counting 51 so there's spots. Probably a DL and DB.
  19. It was a very Angelo type pick, weirdly.
  20. I don't think Hardin did anything poorly, but I just don't remember him standing out and he was a guy who had to earn it. And if they don't want to give up on him totally they can probably stash him on the PS. I don't see anyway they expose Greene to try and get him in the practice squad. Castanza's spot is between him and JT Thomas most likely. They could try to keep 7 LB, but it will be at the expense of a 4th FB/TE or maybe a 10th DB or 5th DE. I'd say the two hardest cuts are Thomas/Costanza and Britten/Scott.
  21. Alright after watching a bit of the game, here's my 53 man roster prediction WR Brandon Marshall Earl Bennett Joe Anderson WR Alshon Jeffery Marquess Wilson Eric Weems TE Martellus Bennett Steve Maneri Kyle Adams QB Jay Cutler Josh McCown RB Matt Forte Michael Bush Michael Ford FB Tony Fiammetta LT Jermon Bushrod LG Matt Slauson C Roberto Garza Edwin Williams RG Kyle Long James Brown RT Jordan Mills Eben Britton LDE Corey Wootton Shea McClellin DT Henry Melton Corvey Irvin NT Stephen Paea Nate Collins Zach Minter RDE Julius Peppers Cornelius Washington Cheta Ozougwu SLB James Anderson J.T. Thomas MLB D.J. Williams Jonathan Bostic WLB Lance Briggs Khaseem Greene LCB Tim Jennings Zack Bowman Sherrick McManis RCB Charles Tillman Isaiah Frey Demontre Hurst SS Major Wright Anthony Walters FS Chris Conte Craig Steltz ST Robbie Gould Adam Podlesh Patrick Mannelly Devin Hester Whiteside, Boggs, and Franklin all on Practice Squad among others.
  22. Well he was pretty much solely drafted because he knocked out Tice's tooth or something, so... I'll admit I was wrong as I was willing to go into the season with him as LT because I thought there were too many holes to fill on the line. wtg Emery. Our best two OL heading into the off season are not on NFL rosters (although arguably the worst is on our roster, but oh well).
  23. So did anyone seal their fate tonight (one way or the other)? I had my fantasy draft so didn't watch.
