Positive me says it's not about platooning so much as over-working his shoulder, but they'll hold him out of game action in a platoon manner where possible until they think the shoulder is at full strength.

HOF or not, Ben Wallace is not the worst Noah comparison for his career to date. A bit more balanced, but I'm not sure you can get a better Noah comp without prefixing with "Poor man's".

I can get the argument about having too short of a peak, but his defense and rebounding at peak was certainly enough to bring him up in HOF discussions. Offensively he was dreadful at scoring. Offensive rebounds he is actually comparable to Noah, and both are quite good in that area. Wallace was a very good passer and save for 2014 who has seen his AST rate skyrocket 10% Noah and him are pretty comparable there. Wallace owns Noah as a defensive rebounder and they're pretty comparable as overall defenders. Wallace has an edge as both shot blocker and at steals. Noah, as much as he's not really a scorer still edges Wallace by a bit. Ultimately I don't think Wallace is a HOF but he has a HOF type peak. It was short though and when you take a relatively one way player and compound a short peak it really hurts your chances. You can get away being one sided with a long enough peak. Likewise a short peak could still get you in if you're a more well rounded player. Final verdict he isn't a HOF, but shouldn't be laughed out, especially when you look at the less advanced metrics that tend to affect HOF voting, mainly DPOY and a ring.

I still am geared towards BDPA in round 1 but part of that is the offensive guys that project to be there. It seems there's way more defensive potential in that range. At this point though you can really go to BPA in Rd2, especially if that Rd1 guy is a DT where it looks like a couple of available guys can be starters right away in that 14 range. Other than QB in Rd2 I think if be okay going any position if they guy was a clear favorite. Taking the long view on our offense OL depth is still a must, and we should start planning for life after Forte. A viable third WR and viable 2nd TE would be nice too. We got so lucky with injuries last year on O, that's the thing that really scares me for 2014. While the top 11 looks great, there's plenty of justification for offensive needs that are just as important as D needs now that we've made most of our FA acquisitions.

I'll be curious what they amount is. I'm sure it's irrational but I just have a fear he's ready to drop off. If we can get two good years out of him I feel really good about our chances.

Could there be something in the works regarding DeSean Jackson? Dear god, that would be ridiculous. What are they saying Jackson would cost? I doubt whatever the assets it would take would be worth it from the Bears perspective.

How much does our Rookie Pool figure to cost? Also how much room do you really need to operate in season? I thought something like only you're top 50 salaries count against the cap. Do you ever really sign guys for above minimum mid-season?

Unless you just really wanna be a college basketball player anything over 6'4"-6'5" is just an inconvenience. I'm 6'4" and wouldn't wanna be any taller. My cousin is 6'9" and between airplanes, clothes, shoes, etc it doesn't sound that great.

Everyone wanted Hawes. RealGM was one big Hawes love fest. At the risk of remembering incorrectly I always liked the pick but also understood the Hawes hype. But basically the things I liked about Noah were true, as are the things that makes Hawes a decent C in this league. Noah is just a lot better at his skillet than Hawes is at his.

I don't mind the Cutler structure but I'm feeling like they should try to free up a little bit extra from his deal (or Jennings or Slauson) to get one more vet DL before the draft- not sure what the market is like. I'm still in the BDPA mindset but DL is definitely looking a bit more glaring to me. S obviously has concerns, but I think I agree with the theory that if you fix the front 7 the S play will rise. There are a lot of DT I like in the 1-2 round range. Not sure someone like Donald is gonna be an Emery guy though. I see more of a mauler, though with some athleticism too. Someone like Nix or Hageman look like good bets to fit across schemes. Seems like a decent chance one of those guys may fall into the second.

I know one of the biggest things of the wheel was players opting out of drafts to get the ideal timing, but it seems to me the fix is pretty simple- make all players draft eligible at whatever age (19 or 20 I'm sure they'd choose). I think 17 or 18 would be better. After age 21/22 if they're not drafted their just eligible as FA. Teams hold their draft rights for life unless the player sits out of competitive basketball for a whole year. Other than your generational talents, it really just evens things out by way of randomization because teams are going to eventually be drafting almost exclusively HS talent. Then it's like hockey where they can go and play college or international or minor leagues or make the straight jump (if the team wants them to sign them right away that is). Look at all the top college picks in a given year and how many weren't 5 star recruits out of HS. Suddenly mid round and second round picks are investments on the future. Sure some team is still going to get extremely lucky every several years when the next Lebron James turns draft-eligible age, but in most other drafts the best player a. Wasn't picked first and b. Wasn't the consensus top player at age 17/18. At the same time rarely does a player completely come out of nowhere to where he wouldn't be drafted amongst his peers (especially if you also expand the draft by 2-3 rounds). All way less effective if you bump up the draft age again, but still effective at taking away player control. To make sure it will work reach out to NCAA with your intentions ahead of time so they can set their rules regarding advisor contact or whatever that's going to be allowed. I do agree though that there has to be a holistic approach and evening out FA in hand with this would be a good step to allow teams to rebuild.
