Yea conspiracy is definitely a bit much, but the deck was stacked and the technicality of the bids didn't mean much. That being said, pro Rio was a big part of it, not just anti-American sentiment. Whoever the other two cities were didn't stand much of a chance either, they were just saved the embarrassment of a first round exit. No one would cry conspiracy if Chicago didn't get humiliated.

Chicago already had their version of the Olympics and we're still benefitting from much of it over a hundred years later, so I'm okay missing the headache of a current Olympic Games, despite how once in a lifetime experience it would have been, and any of the upgraded amenities it would have meant.

The problem with open is that the IOC rules required a certain amount that's covered for dignitaries. That and it had capacity issues. That was a big reason for the semi-temporary Olympic stadium in Washington Park. That was actually helpful to Chicago's technical bid, but that of course didn't matter. The only serious permanent structures was going to be the Olympic village.

Can you deconstruct that sentence for me? We have some additional second rounders (from Portland via the Deng trade) we can use to trade up from our current second round spot, similar to the move we made to get Asik, in which we traded our second rounder and two future second rounders.

We also have some future seconds now we can trade if we want like we did with Asik.

It's gotta be Buccannon. I'm not worried about doubling down, but I think Buccannon has more value here than the DL available.

I think need wise CB, ILB, and RB are all in play here. Based on what's available I'm gonna get that first RB off the board. I'm sure Browns fans would want the Ohio State guy but I'm going Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington. Should form a good duo with Tate and continue to build around Gordon and the first two picks. If you zoom in enough and know your suburban geography, you'll see they basically show I-88/290 as the dividing line between fandoms, with the exception being The Naperville/Lisle/Woodridge/Bolingbrook areas shown as predominantly Cubs fans. This makes more sense as there are not more Sox fans in the Chicago area than Cubs fans. Yea it seems pretty accurate to me. I viewed it on my phone so it was a little difficult to pick everything out, but was there a pocket of cubs strength in Hyde Park?

Also regarding visits it seems possible that guy isn't distinguishing between private visits and combine/pro day visits (he has 32 listed and the max is 30) . But it's obviously a guessing game and they may choose to leak certain pre draft visits and conceal others.

Pretty good review. I would contend some of the classifications (or at least contend their predictive value), but it at the very least gives a good overview.

So I've been trying to research the Bears pre draft visits to get an idea who they may draft. In Emery's first two drafts there was pretty strong correlation. So a few notes- We're drafting a safety in the first two rounds. Dix, Pryor, Fuller, and Bucannon all have had official visits. Credit to a RealGM poster , but Bucannon probably has the best measurables, so don't be surprised if he's the guy, even in round one (it wouldn't be an Emery draft if round one didn't feel like a big reach). Don't be surprised if we pass on Donald (though I think he may be gone anyways). We did meet with him at the combine, but no official Halas Hall visit as far as i can see. One DL to visit was Nix who could certainly fit in a hybrid or straight 3-4 scheme. Donald makes tons of sense for a true Tampa 2 team. He's also small and save for the McClellin pick, Emery seems to like size too, and has talked about valuing it more. They may be looking for versatility. Both are late day 3 prospects (or even UDFA), but both De'Anthony Thomas and Jordan Lynch had official visits. Will be interesting to see if Emery takes a risk on a potential big play athlete without a position and let Trestman figure out the rest. Both these guys could possibly line up in the backfield, but neither would be a true runner, and also line up as WR. With only Ford and Draugh behind Forte one more body would be wise, so it will be interesting to see if or how Emery addresses RB in the draft. With our defensive FA signings I wouldn't even mind a true RB in rd 2 or 3 though I can't find any word of visits, so no signs we plan to address RB early. Obviously the pre draft visits are only one thing to go on, but basically the only insight we have now. Any significant visits I'm missing?
