    "... so I says to Coach K, 'BECAUSE 7 ATE 9'" At my friends rehearsal dinner our black waiter told this joke except for the punch line says, "because 7 is a [expletive]". None of us knew how to react. Not that it would help, but I kinda need to know what expletive was there... I didn't tell you the waiter was black for no reason.

    On the other hand that just may mean he's smart/humble enough to know he can hold onto his nest egg and make just enough to live a normal life style rather than invest his earnings in a risky business.

    Lovie isn't a horrible coach. I know he isn't. I actually like Lovie, but dude didn't give a [expletive] about his offense so he was NEVER going to get the Bears over the hump. He coached them into the super bowl so I'm not sure what hump he could never get them over. Well winning, obviously. But I don't think a lot of people had faith that he could create a D like that team again which is what was needed based on his offensive results he was able to put forward. Remains to be seen if Trestman is just the opposite problem, to be fair though.

    Without looking at the current salary and knowing what PTR is willing to spend, Castillo as a OF bat, a big FA Lester type, a Feldman type, and a second catcher has to be doable right?

    If we don't spend big and overpay for pitching well have a 60-70M payroll again, so hopefully the get one big long term guy and another big salary short term guy,

    I think the deciding factor is whether we think Senior Lake or Bitters jokes are funnier.

    Yeah, looking back at all the guys we could've had who have gone on to great productive careers, I can't help but wonder if they'd have those careers coming up through one of the worst player development systems in the league Anaheim is not exactly a forward thinking franchise are they? I think Trout would have been just fine moving through Chicago's system.

    I love it when Trestman talks like a kindergarten teacher. Lol Haha my wife and I were trying to describe how he talked. She said calming but I knew that wasn't quite it. This is perfect.

    This. I'm not worried about the likes of Martellus turning on Trestman. His approach is bound to fail on a few guys but they'll probably turn around once they realize the potential cost to futures earning. As long as Jay meshes with him I'm good.

    See I just assume we wouldn't have picked him and can be glad I don't have to live with guilt like 20 other teams.

    Well you need a 25 man spot and 40 man spot so you could have to do both. Or just DFA Villanueva and make it one move. I'd guess Villanueva stays around as a veteran presence. I'm only okay with that if he grows his cool stash back.

    Maybe it's the negotiation process then. I can't remember an IFA signing that went quickly.

    Just thinking more paperwork and stuff. These international signings always seem to drag.
