Won't it be kind if difficult to actually use our whole pool? At what point doesn't it make sense to overpay just to use your pool rather than roll over actual dollars to spend next year when you aren't capped. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
They may not really know either though. I mean if Lebron and Bosh actually left they could still offer those contracts using cap space. It probably hurts the discount theory, though again, if they still get those discounts they could still have another $3M to a FA plus the RMLE at $2.7M. I do think it likely means the big three are back and not at discounts, but with no real confirmation of that it leaves the food open for speculation of flexibility on Miami's part. I have no idea what to make of the McRoberts signing other than the Big Three may just all re-up at their full max as they're not getting that 10-11M player. But a range of possibilities still exist including Bosh and/or Lebron bolting or them just splitting that 11M pool and still taking pay cuts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think it's a well deserved reputation in the sense that he certainly seems to value athleticism, but not in an Al Davis "just take the best 40 time" kind of way. And it also really depends on the position. WR for instance, size and body control seem much more important than the combine type athletic traits. For edge rushers there seems to be a high importance on the combine type traits and for interior defenders it's more of a size/speed balance. There's a cap bubble that's only going to get worse when new tv revenue comes in. So it's possible these deals won't even look bad in two years. And if the Lebron rumors of 2/40 are true it means he's banking on a new cap that will make his next max contract eclipse this one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Amnesty Rose I know/think this is a joke, but isn't he not eligible as he signed his new contract after the new CBA? EDIT - yeah only Boozer and Jo are eligible on the Bulls. I'm not sure how clear cut the language is but it was an extension agreed to before the new CBA. I'm sure they could find grounds to fight it. But yes, obviously a joke. Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA · 2h Source says that the Bulls are trying to trade the contracts of Carlos Boozer and Mike Dunleavy Jr. No surprise, but Bulls are trying. Boozer doesn't really matter since we're already assuming an amnesty (though would save JR actual cash). Dunleavy gets our offer up to around 13-14M. Following player dumps up our offer approximately: Butler +1.5 McDermott +1.3 Randolph +1.3 Snell +0.9 Smith +0.4 Bairstow +0.0 Randolph is the only guy I see us really having to add additional value to move. Apparently Taj and Noah will be present at Melo meeting so probably no Taj salary dump to get further under the cap. Assuming you can move nearly everything else (I'm gonna assume we keep Smith, Bairstow, and McDermott though) our max offer to Melo would start in the low 17 range I think. Rose McDermott Melo Taj Noah Smith Bairstow +Room MLE (around 2.3m) and vet mins More than a little worried we haven't heard any salary dumping rumors as our current offer tops out at about 10-11. In the event that NY refuses to take Boozer back in a S&T, would there be some way to sign and trade all these expirings, plus MDJ and Snell for Melo? Without having to get rid of Jimmy or Taj? Does it help if we amnesty Boozer first (to fall under the cap) and can then include Randolph in the sign and trade? If we're under the cap we can just sign Melo though now with Randolph on board our offer is about 13 (which includes dumping MDJ). So if we sent back Ramdolph we can increase the Melo salary, but then why have Randolph at all? (The three vet mins are moot as they're waived if we're staying under the cap). I heard something similar talked about with one of the trade rumors lately where some team was going to give up this year's 1st and next year's but it wouldn't be put through until after the draft so it wouldn't break the trading back to back draft picks rule. That's like a week or two though, not 8 weeks. I can't ever recall a trade taking that long to become official. Besides to have waited that long we could have just traded Mike James and Ronnie Brewer who are immediate "expirings". Don't think we'll need that much salary for Melo especially because it's looking like Dunleavy will still be around as a matching salary. Can take back up to 125% as long as we stay under apron which we do = 26.086. Minus Smiths 5.982 = 20.1M left for Melo. If you can figure out how to structure Randolph it adds 2.28 extra in salary you can take back. A S&T Nazr adds 1.81 extra in take back.
