Feels like their being a little kind on a few of those throwaways. That preseason accuracy we saw jasnt quite shown up. I agree with your take on this. He seemed to throw several balls way high/long of his receivers. Maybe that was him trying too hard to put it where "only his guy could get it," but it could have just as easily been rushed throws. Yea. Presumably with the talent level closing, he's not getting clean looks quick enough. Hopefully as he adjusts to making reads, he has time to set himself and fire off accurate throws just like against second stringers/college guys. -

Well the last part is kind of a huge kicker. I think by and large, fans view expansion teams in MLB and NBA at least, and see more failure than success: Teams that don't end up financially viable, that aren't a net positive. Now, not every struggling financial team is a newer franchise, many are, and while viewership is not a zero sum game, it's also not a case where dropping in a new team only creates new fans/viewers- you are inevitably going to dilute the viewer base as a whole.

Brandon Marshall. No that won't happen, but he'll probably end up being one of the few trade deadline rumor candidates. Isn't he out for the year? Oh I knew he got hurt, but didn't realize he was out for the whole year. Nevermind.

They are going to suck but already at 4 wins they probably will win 1 to 3 more games, they have the Browns, Bears, Vikings, Lions x2, Bucs and Ravens left on the schedule. There’s a win or 2 in there and that’s enough to keep them closer to pick 10/12 than top 5 probably. that roster sans rodgers is mostly a dumpster fire but the browns are pretty damn bad, i guess. also, in response to wrigley, even tho i was mostly making a joke with that post, rodgers will about a year younger on draft day than favre was when they drafted him, fwiw. Two years younger think. As to the other part, they are probably still good enough to back into at least two more wins.

He's only 33 still. A little early to start talking about drafting an heir apparent unless this injury shortens his career. Plus unless they Really suck without Rodgers, they aren't finishing top 5 pick.

Develop the young guys. Gentry and McBride having something resembling a Cam Meredith is our slim hope of a good passing attack next year. Next year? What I mean Wright is probably our only legit NFL WR at this point, even if he prob maxes out as a good slot. The only logical explanation for those guys getting most of the reps is development based.

It's only one metric, but DVOA has the Bears as 19th in rush offense rank for DVOA. (Somehow they aren't 32 in pass DVOA) and their rankings look pretty much in line with last years rankings* (rush DVOA as 18th overall with Howard as 9th overall (10th overall this year)). *This year's rankings are still weighted 30% on predictions which presumably then are still being influenced a lot with last year's rankings. Also opponent strength is 50% weighted at this point in the rankings. At the end of the day, this elite debate sucks kind of hard. Overall we stink and that's the most important thing.

Being that predictable doesn't make it easier to run. Not saying that. Just saying because of volume. When you run that many times, you're going to rack up yards. It's still impressive because of the 8-9 man fronts they see. How do we rank in carries in NFC and NFL? Looks like they're still top 10 in YPC. So it's not entirely on volume, but they have some more efficiency to meet Tim's metrics for elite rushing attack.

Oh the Cubs could definitely win two in LA, but my heart can't take two, let alone 3 or 4, limination games. So if we could sweep 3 at home, I'm actually likely to keep watching.

I don't hate it. It's a nice balance of the restaurants, sports and entertainment a city gives you, while being extremely affordable The fervor over Ohio State was pretty annoying. I'd be out on a Saturday and people would ask why I am not wearing Scarlet and Gray. It was like some sort of cult. I went to college with a lot of Ohio State fans and they're pretty much the reason OSU is the only Big Ten school I don't root for.

The problem with using Lackey in game 2 is it either forces you to skip a starter or not use a starter until a game 5 that may not happen, or use Lackey in two games. OTOH, in the scenario where game 5 may not happen you have two fully rested SP in game 4 ready to unload.

Game 2 is the only game that has any rest worries either way. EDIT: I like the latter path because not only do you avoid giving Lackey a start, but the people who do get extra rest (Lester after 3 outings in 8 days, Arrieta with his hammy) are most likely to benefit from it. I worry about Lester game 2, but I guess if he looks bad early and the game gets out if hand you just hand the ball over to Lackey and say, just help our bullpen keep rested?

Sooo Q- "Normal rest" Lackey - Extended rest Lester - +1 day rest Hendricks +1 day rest (Arrietta ext rest) Artietta extended rest (or Q normal rest) G6 Q (+1) Lester (-1) Hendricks (-2) Lackey (+2) G7 Lester (normal) Hendricks (-1) Arietta(-2) Lackey (+3) So we'll catch up on rest by the time we roll around to any possible elimination game and have bullets to burn, but I think key will be how long our starters go. I think Lackey makes more sense in game 2 than game 1 because it will probably be a more active bullpen game and you get the rest day in between to recover. Still, dropping Martin or Lastella for Rondon makes sense.

I agree with that. Go get us more pass rushers. That was another area Pace way under planned for.

I think they can, assuming Trubisky is the franchise QB (also means WR is the only dire need) . I mean, drafting a WR #1 and signing one in the offseason isn't really "locking-in" so much as it is solidifying the position. The rest of the draft and FA can be used on depth up front on both sides of the ball. Assuming Sitton has another year in him and the rest of the line continues to perform as they have over the past two seasons. the potential emergence of another Carson Wentz minimizes any need this team has outside of WR. I'd argue there is a real need for a defensive playmaker. If they have a chance to draft one rated higher than any particular WR, but instead take a WR just because they really need one, that's a huge missed opportunity. Yea get someone who can maybe create a few turnovers and not have us bottom in the league in turnover differential.

More so than that one last November? I actually thought we had a chance for that one. Legit didn't expect to win this one in the 9th.
