A little surprised they aren't trying something for 2021 to capitalize on lower tier college programs that had their season affected by Covid. They'll need fans in the stands to stay solvent. Not if they can pay poor college students desperate to play football (and audition for the NFL) pennies to do so.

I dont think Nall can replace Cohen, but I do think he could see more playing time. whatever they do, I hope they dont trade draft picks. I'm sick of the patent Ryan Pace knee-jerk. i thought theydrafted a guy last spring..(2019), Whyte? fast, could be a Cohen Lite for awhile. Yea Whyte is sitting on the Lions PS right now and they have a plenty deep RB room so I doubt they'd block him. Seems like it would be an obvious move.

Its like a really old window that doesn't operate well right now, but on a good day with the right conditions could slide open just like the old days. But you might also bust the whole thing if you try and force it too much one day.

Yea, they're already out of range for Lawrence. With the Big Ten resuming play, Fields will likely play himself out of their range as well. I guess the QB from North Dakota (Trey Lance) is being talked about as a possible first rounder. Other guys that might draw day 1 or day 2 interest... Jamie Newman (though he opted out), Kyle Trask, KJ Costello, Sam Ehlinger, Kellen Mond.. We'll see if any play themselves into solidly R1 prospects where Pace would feel the need to trade up for any into the top 10 to secure them. if we draft a NDS Bison I'll eat my horsefeathering keyboard will pay to watch on your Only Fans account.

why draft a developmental qb when you can bankroll years of draft picks on the guy who drives a modest car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! full disclosure: Trubisky was the guy I wanted in that draft as well. thank god I dont draft for the bears, but no way would I have traded up I mean in the grand scheme of it the trade up part wasn't that big of the deal... definitely not bankrolling "years of picks". Whiffing on the pick when the other consensus Rd 1 QBs ended up being worlds better was the issue.

Yeah, this is a very important point. I said at one point this offseason that if you made a switch at QB at any point during the season, it would probably be a lost season. Because the typical QB switch involves a bad game by the starting QB. A bad game by a starting QB typically ends in a loss for that team. But 1 bad game doesn't always mean a switch between weeks. Typically, the QB is given another half at least to see if he can get back on track. And if he can't, that typically means a loss too. So, you're talking 2 losses before your 2nd QB gets a full week of starter's reps. That's why I was so surprised a move was made, but it's also as good a reason as any to have made a move when they did. Because losing this and then a bad Trubisky half to start next week would've put the Bears potentially at 2-2 with a short week to get Foles ready. "His guy" in this case being the reluctant QB acquisition that his HC was demanding? Again, what? Yes. At least, the softer choice to compete with his busted draft pic Look, Pace being loose with draft capital and aggressive to trade for his guys is a legit fact/criticism. This "actually he desperately wanted to save his skin by promoting Mitch until Nagy had enough" or whatever, plus the other stuff is stupid.

Yes, Pace was desperate to make Trubisky work, but if he was going to bring in a viable challenge it HAD to be the one who cost a 4th round draft pick and many millions of dollars more than the other options. What? What do you mean what? The fact Foles has had experience working with Nagy makes an easier storyline, but let's not act like Pace is a savant when it comes to draft capital. Blowing up picks to "get his guy" is what he does. "His guy" in this case being the reluctant QB acquisition that his HC was demanding? Again, what?

I was surprised Mitch one the job at the start because the trade and declining Mitch's extension seemingly pointed towards Foles being the starter. One theory may be that the short camp affected Foles more than Mitch and the extra 2-3 weeks helped him close in on whatever system gap Mitch had. Given a full offseason and 4 preseason games, maybe Foles wins the job at the outset. My theory is simply this: Pace, feeling embarrassed for the gamble to draft Mitch has forced Nagy to play him. Nagy today said enough. I mean that would be super duper dumb if true. I try not to contemplate super super dumb logic unless I have really good reason to.

I've always though the noon CST kickoff was most ideal. Enough time to get a few things done in the morning if you wanted and then just kind of coast into the rest of the evening.

I thought they said on the broadcast that they had the oldest D in the league. Did I hear that wrong? I don't know how that can be with Johnson, Jackson, Smith and Nichols starting. Well according to this article they are the second oldest overall. But that's the whole roster. Yeah the defense seems to be taking a lot of heat for almost losing. By all measurements that was a good defensive game, that would look even better if not for the bogus call on the Jackson called back pick 6. And they do have some age on D but also have young talent at every position. Added a ton of youth at CB the last 2 offseasons. Fuller is the "old" guy but he's playing the best he ever has thru 2 games. Jackson is young, Smith is young. The DL guys getting most of the snaps outside of Hicks are young. The OLB starters are old (if you consider Mack old at 29), but with young depth. I think Pace is at least aware that he can't count on an elite defense forever. Andy also likes coaching great quarterbacks he trusts. Nagy is coaching a middling QB he does not trust in the least. Well at least he has a more viable backup now. Push Mitch and if he fails its the Foles show. -

I feel like the jump ball int was Robinsons fault. He is our #1, he should be hanging onto it all the way down (It was Robinson on that play, wasn't it?) The first was bad mitch The first was Mitch throwing it as Robinson came out of his break. Great play by the CB. If anything, Robinson should shield the CB from getting in there, but I chalk it up to more of a good defensive play.
