i never really hated him to begin with. i was a big fan when he was in anaheim, so it was cool to see him do well for the cubs. my cardinal hate wasn't fully realized yet at that point, either.

Edmonds' dong against STL when he bat flipped and glared into their dugout was a good one too. I've never 180'd on a player before or since like Jim Edmonds. Joakim Noah was my biggest, easily.

Tank losses=bad. Luckily they're pretty locked into their spot at 4, and even further away from the 6 spot. Which is why I don't give a single horsefeathers if they win games because of young core pieces playing sustainably awesomely, especially with the new lottery rules.

plus i don't really think "signing great players helps you win" is really a question that needs to be proven to owners. they just want to hold down salaries and winning isn't their top priority.

you have a weird definition of "the best" Players proving to ownership that investing big in the best free agents produces significantly improved baseball teams....definitely something I'm in favor of. the cubs winning the world series, definitely something i'm far more in favor of but maybe i'm weird
