He reflects the energy of the moment, good or bad. You can usually hear the "downness" (for lack of a better word) in his voice at the end of a call when the opposition has done something. I hate it when announcers for the team I root for also root for that team and get affected by the events of the game. I would rather a mono-tone. Yea, that's exactly what I said. Or not. Actually, if anything, I would rather he sound a lot more pissed when the opposition does something. When the opposition is at the plate and I hear the tone of his voice, I'm expecting to hear an out and some sort of good play for the Cubs. Instead, it's a positive play for them. It annoys the piss out of me as I'm also pissed off about the play. Sue me.
