  1. .gif =/= pic. Take that amateur crap back to OT. OT is so over the .gif fad. VAVs are the rage now, son http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bowdown.gifhttp://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bowdown.gif
  2. He's walking through all this, at least. I can't even imagine what the lineup will be like if Lee, Ram, Fuk and Sori are all hot for a stretch at the same time. Not likely, but would be ricockulous
  3. OK, context considered, maybe that's not so funny.
  4. I beg to differ. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e144/ohefdubs/gifs/output.gif
  5. His argument actually makes complete sense, but ok. Jon is well known for making dumb irrational arguments, after all. Just because one usually makes rational arguments does not mean one is incapable of making the occasional dumb, irrational argument. That's certainly true. But he isn't making one in this particular case. I'll continue until I get the last word in.

  7. I'd rather the Cardinals win anyways (which they did)... Cards will fall back to earth. Brewers losses are a good thing.
  8. It's a rant because you said a variation of the same thing about 10 times. We get it, you're not happy that Z was still in there but there's no need to keep repeating it over and over. As far as the Z question, you answered your own question with the bolded - it's a routine. And as far as PAP, my basic knowledge of them tells me that they don't start until you go over 100 pitches and, I believe, it's ((# of pitches) - 100) ^3. Z threw 101 pitches which would add up to a whopping 1 PAP. It's not that big of a deal. I'm being told that it's better to let Zambrano throw over 100 pitches because he's used to it and that makes no sense to me at all. There's a long list of reasons why he shouldn't have been out there and just how risky the decision was is completely irrelevant. Piniella is managing a roster of 25 guys and not a video game. He shouldn't be making these kinds of decisions. IT'S ONE FLIPPING PITCH OVER 100!! If he had thrown 99 pitches, would you be bitching and moaning so much? You're making it seem like he threw 115 or 120. I guess it's a step in the right direction that you backed off making it seem like leaving Z in to bat in the seventh was going to kill him. I don't want to speak for Jon on this, but it might be an argument more based on principle than any real problem with Zambrano throwing the 101st pitch. For me it is, at least.
  9. Ugh, Weaver is really putting a hurting on my ERA tonight.
  10. Nice, another RBI for my fantasy team.
  11. Wow, I love how my aversion to pointless risk is being mis-characterized as freaking out.
  12. All I'm trying to figure out is why you continue to rant about this. Z threw 101 pitches which, as was pointed out, he's done plenty of times before. It's not like Lou left him in to throw 120. And as for the running, Z could get hurt doing anything. He could trip and fall down the dugout steps, so should the Cubs hire somebody to carry him down the steps? It's not that big of a deal. How is it a rant? Taking 100% unnecessary risk is incredibly stupid. We'd all be better off not doing it. Managing baseball teams is no different. Sure, you can take a ride in your car with no seatbelt on and you're 99% sure to arrive at your destination unscathed. That 1% of the time, though, you might just wind up dead because you didn't want to wear your damn seatbelt. Maybe it's because I play poker... *shrug*
  13. Even if Lou intends to take him out why burn a pinch hitter? The near disaster at 2nd base would be one reason. Why is Lee still in there instead of Ward? Why isn't Patterson out there or Blanco? When you're up 9 in the bottom of the 7th, you can afford to have a reliever take an AB. Worrying about him running the bases seems a bit paranoid. It's not a worry so much as it is distaste for a 100% unnecessary risk. Imagine how you'd want to react if he DID get hurt. There was really nothing to gain with an 8 run lead. He has about as good a chance of getting hurt being hit by a line drive sitting in the dugout. The guy is not fragile. OK, that's hyperbole. It doesn't matter that he's not fragile. There was no reason to have him in there. Absolutely nothing to be gained other than for Z to have some fun. Why do it?
  14. Don't do that to me. Dreaming of an OF of Dunn, Soriano, Fuku would just be too much.... Christ

  16. We heard about the severity a long time ago. Both the big stations have been reporting since early afternoon that his absence isn't expected to last longer than the 15 days of the DL stint. Maybe we should update one of the thread titles so people are more likely to see what's up.
  17. It isn't expected to take longer than the full 15 days of the DL stint.
  18. Lost in all of this is the fact that Murton would make a better leadoff hitter than any of the options that are actually under consideration.
  19. Levine is saying that the Cubs expect it to be something that'll take care of itself within about two weeks.
  20. FWIW, Levine was just on ESPN1000 and thinks Lou will be using Patterson regularly at 2B and DeRosa in LF. He also believes that (in Lou's eyes, not his own),with yet another leg injury, Soriano's days at leadoff are done for good. The positive that I can take from this is that at least it looks like Lou won't be going back to Theriot at leadoff (if he is, indeed, trying to find a "leadoff man" in EPatt). Unfortunately, he has had him hitting 2nd, which is almost as bad.
  21. You really really have to try harder at being sneaky.
  22. Still, I've never understood why so many of them look completely foolish up there. I have no problem with the concept of pitchers just being overpowered by pitching since they don't spend much time hitting, but you'd think that they could at least strike out with a smidgen of athleticism. Some of them look like they've never swung a bat in their entire lives. Probably because they have zero hitting talent but do have an arm that can throw a ball at or around 90mph... It's not like you can learn to be a MLB quality hitter or practice really hard at it. It's a natural ability that very few people have.
  23. Except the really good ones who get to be DHs.
  24. How did the Cubs win on Sunday? Zambrano hit a grounder, hustled to first base, and Utley threw it wildly to first. An error occurred, and the Cubs scored. Utley admitted that he saw Zambrano running hard and that made him rush his throw. With the Cubs' lack of solid starting pitching, the race for the division will be tight. Every game will be important. That's why you hustle. Do you realize that you can say the exact same thing about how much Ramirez getting hurt would harm the team if his "hustle" managed to cause an injury? The guy has leg issues and, on top of it, he's slow. Asking him to leg out every ball he hits is tantamount to wanting injury prone pitchers to pitch through pain. Nothing good can come of it.
  25. Should he grimace more while he's running or something?
