  1. First, let me start out by saying that I agree with you completely. That said, I find it pretty ironic/puzzling that you're taking this stance considering you argued adamantly with me over the offseason that process didn't matter more than outcome (results). I forget what thread it was but there's a pretty decent chance that, given the fact that it was in the offseason, it was in the Roberts thread. EDIT - Ah, here we go viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45104&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=process%2C+outcome&start=175 Don't ask me why I remembered that. I don't really know. I guess it just stuck in my mind because I was surprised that you would take that stance, given your usual positions on things here.. *shrug*
  2. These are the pitchers that get to us. Weve beaten or NDd pretty much every ace thrown our way, aside from Volquez who like most everyone, we couldnt touch, but its the Chris Sampsons and such that we havnt been able to get to. Sonnenstine is more of a Chris Sampson than an ace. Im not saying this guys going to beat us, Im just saying I hope they take him seriously. Same gos for this whole Rays team. Just because nobodys heard of half these guys, doesnt mean they cant hurt you. Got that Z? ...or, you know, that guy we faced last night. I'm thinking the claim that we struggle against bad pitchers isn't too accurate either. We've pretty much beat up on most pitchers we've faced this year, good and bad. Obviously there've been some exceptions, but the whole notion that we struggle against bad pitchers really doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I don't worry about our offense going into any game.
  3. ummm what your sarcasm detector is doing it wrong
  4. I won't read too much into Soriano's comments about when he wants to be back.
  5. You realize that people have actually been clamoring for Lou to use Marmol more in high leverage situations and less when we are blowing teams out (which is quite often)....
  6. Big out... just as good as a K
  7. Lou's been pretty bad at using the DH so far, he hasn't really put a lineup out there where I like all 9 hitters, and that is possible to do with this team. Using the DH to get Soto time off behind the plate is ideal. Seriously, how else would you guys have lined them up tonight?
  8. Have we been shutout yet this year? I recall a 9-0 loss to the Reds. That's right. Also one of the Nationals games.
  9. Have we been shutout yet this year?
  10. That was a tasty Cubs fan they showed a minute ago.
  11. How are we so late on these low 90's fastballs...
  12. Seriously? It looks trashy as hell. Not remotely cool. But let's not sidetrack this thread, I guess.
  13. Uh, yes he did. no he had some last year but now it looks like his entire arms are covered. he didnt have that many last year You are correct. I just went and looked at some pictures and he didn't have nearly as many. But yeah, his arms are almost completely covered now. He looks like a complete dumbass with them, if that counts for anything. Fixed.
  14. Before the AB, I was about to post that I didn't at all like the Floyd/Dempster matchup. I decided against and then it went 0-2 and I felt stupid. Well, hell.
  15. He's been doing things right all season. You should pay closer attention. He's been doing almost everything except getting on base wrong this year. ...which is far more important than anything else. Dude's hitting .310 with an OBP that's been around .400 for the last two months, and people still want to bitch. Unreal. I said I'll take it. I'm very happy with his production up till now, but he sure does like to make unnecessary outs on the bases.
  16. Was he actually out? It really didn't look like it.
  17. He's been doing things right all season. You should pay closer attention. He's been doing almost everything except getting on base wrong this year. I'll take it, but for someone who is known for doing the "little things" right, he sure does a lot of them wrong.
  18. That pretty much helps my case, IMO. Manny, flaws and all, is a more attractive option than Soriano, especially a 3-4 years younger than now Manny.
  19. Platooning Murton and Johnson makes absolutely no sense. davearm has the right idea, IMO.
  20. When you consider that the Red Sox couldn't even give Manny away on his contract, there is not a chance in hell that anyone takes that horrendous monstrosity of a contract we gave Soriano off our hands, unless we eat a significant chunk.
