  1. Jeter and its not particularly close. Just look at the RC. It's almost laughable. Jeter is 34, appears to be on the decline, and is making $21M a year. There is just about no player I would take him over with that salary.
  2. Not to get off the subject of Rich Hill turning the corner, here, but I've yet to see an actual balls/strikes breakdown of Hill's most recent start. I know he had a good K-BB, but do we know how the actual ratio in terms of pitches? I believe he also had a wild pitch, although that doesn't necessarily mean much.
  3. Fat pro athletes seriously piss me off. Seriously, you can't get off your ass and get in shape when you have all of these resources at your disposal and it's your livelihood? Gimme a break. /rant
  4. Meh. I remember not being too upset about the Cubs loss to the Phillies when we got Nomar. In fact, I was about as happy as I've ever been as a Cubs fan. Of course, the Brewers and fans have known about this since last night, so it's a little different.
  5. They think he was at one of the Olsen twins' apartment.
  6. In other news, Heath Ledger is dead.
  7. I doubt that's really an issue these days...
  8. Is this a joke thread or something?
  9. Wow. How would that help us, Jim? Randy's got 18 starts this year, posting a 5-8 record to go with a 4.59 ERA, a 1.422 WHIP, and a stellar ERA+ of 85. He is, in a word, garbage. That would be like Trachsel all over again. I wouldn't get too worried about the speculation DeLuca tossed in there.
  10. Yea Harden when healthy is great. Stone was saying this morning though that yesterday Harden was topping out at 92 and has been like that for his last 4-5 starts. Also said it seemed as if he was spending lots of energy to get the 92. Im not to fond of Stone at this point, so I really dont know how much of this is relative. Well, if Harden is hurt or struggling with his stuff, he pitched pretty damn well in June in spite of it...
  11. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/1042571,CST-SPT-deluca07.article This is the actual article that the posting is based on...
  12. Maddux is fine for postseason insurance/fifth starter reasons Maddux is not better than any of the options we currently have for those purposes.
  13. Then again, Bedard probably doesn't come cheap. Maddux? Hope not.
  14. I'm thinking it's Erik Bedard, considering he's a Mariners guy and it's the one name he doesn't want mentioned.
  15. I think it's the fact that they're all blue. I wish they'd just do away with the red-billed road cap altogether. In 95, they were better on the road than at home, so they tried the road caps at home. Maybe they should do the opposite this year.
  16. Based on what? The fact he's a better baseball player. Or not. It seems to me you're basically saying he has the potential to be better... Aren't you the one who says that talk about "ceilings" and stuff like that is nonsensical "scoutspeak?" What exactly are you basing the idea that Alexei Ramirez is a better baseball player than DeRosa or even Theriot on? Not facts. His approach at the plate does little to encourage me into thinking he's anything better than mediocre.
  17. Based on what?
  18. Fortunately, what it "looks" like matters very little.
  19. I love, random commas.
  20. The Jays one is awful, but I don't see anything wrong with the Marlins cap This
  21. This. I thought some people had made a strong case for the point that Marmol has actually been as valuable (or almost) as a SP due to his level of dominance in high leverage situations. Has that changed with his recent struggles?
  22. I would in a heartbeat. Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. Marmol is great, but not a Cy Young candidate. Are you crazy? What, you trade a very young and dominant relief pitcher just because he has a couple of bad weeks? For a guy as good as Sabathia, yes without thinking. For 2-3 months of Sabathia? Just saying.
  23. I guess that is sort of a miracle... :D
