  1. Or maybe Len and Bob were just wrong...
  2. She hates it from Oakland's perspective. Doesn't think highly of anyone the Cubs gave up. Likes it from the Cubs perspective.
  3. Oh god, this thread could really take a(nother) wrong turn if I keep up with this.
  4. Dick Harden
  5. Well, that "topping out" at 90-92 is obviously a load of crap.
  6. Weak Division? In the last 5 seasons, when we haven't won the division (2004, 2005, 2006), a team from the NL Central has played in the World Series. The Central's the best division in baseball this year. You can't really blame Hendry for 2004 either... you definitely can for 2005/2006 though. That really doesn't mean all that much. Doesn't mean the division was strong those years. It may have been (in 2004, it certainly was), but the fact that the teams from the division made the World Series doesn't mean the division was strong. That said, the NL Central is certainly a very strong division right now compared to others.
  7. http://www.wrigleyvillesports.com/Chicago-Cubs/Player-Name-and-Number_2/Rich-Harden-Name-and-Number-T-Shirt http://www.wrigleyvillesports.com/core/media/media.nl?id=12668&c=679860&h=70f2df028a969786a622&resizeid=-2&resizeh=275&resizew=275
  8. I don't care that much about the Brewers. I didn't see their acquisition of CC as a real threat to us unless we faced them in the NLCS (which is obviously a decent possibility), and if we have a healthy, effective Harden in October, it doesn't really matter to me if the Brewers have Sheets or not, I see us as having a better chance to win (particularly with HFA, which we'll likely have). I just really wanted another shut down starter for the playoffs before the Brewers were even mentioned in the CC sweepstakes. In fact, Harden was THE guy I wanted (I guess I'm a bit of a gambler)...
  9. That's assuming that Harden ends up a Cub long term. I'm usually pretty confident in the Cubs keeping our good free agents around. Aren't you? At the very least, we should have him through 09 and be able to get a better gauge on his health situation. Of course, I suppose that (keeping him around) depends on who winds up owning the team.
  10. If Harden can stay mostly healthy through the rest of his career (gigantic IF, but who knows, maybe at 26+ he'll turn the corner), it won't matter what Gallagher and the rest of those players do. They wouldn't make us look stupid.
  11. Maybe. The top "Pitch Speed" label is just the title. The graph shows pitch speed and number of pitches. Should be pretty easy to read. No, I can "read" it fine. I'm just not sure what the hell I'm supposed to conclude from it. Maybe I'm just too lazy to look at it really closely.
  12. We should probably be thanking Peter Angelos right now, too.
  13. Am I the only one having a hard time really interpreting what I'm seeing in those graphs?
  14. Good luck to Sean and all the others! Usually wouldn't bother posting something like that, but there's actually a decent chance these days that one or more of them will actually read this.
  15. Cool story on how the trade went down from Buster Olney (it's a sidebar, not a full article)... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3478902
  16. I felt the same way, SSR, but coupled with the fact that it is Rich Harden and the fact that he has complained (supposedly, I haven't seen the quotes) about a dead arm recently, I'm a little concerned I guess.
  17. So when do we get our jersey T's? Weren't the stores in Milwaukee getting theirs like the day after?
  18. Dusty did lead us the closest to the promised land since 1945. Its just too bad he went mad afterword. He was just as bad, if not at his worst, in 2003. And for the record, there were plenty of knowledgeable fans who were against the Dusty hire. I was sort of guardedly optimistic/neutral about it, but I had my concerns about his handling of pitchers and his veteran love.
  19. Wow, I'm still unbelievably excited about this move...but onto bigger issues. Should we concerned about Harden's velocity? I heard that Stone had mentioned that his velo was down in his last few starts, and I brushed it off. I was reading the Harden thread at Gateway Redbirds and they had some info showing that his velocity had progressively gotten lower his last two starts. A - Should we be worried? Is there actually something to be worried about? B - Does anyone know anything to calm any such concerns?
  20. I'm so unbelievably happy right now hahahahahhahhahhaahhaha
  21. Wow, this would be the epitome of awesome if we answered the Sabathia trade with a move for Harden 2-3 days later..
  22. Not to take anything away from AZPhil (as I might even be remembering wrong), but wasn't he the one who came out with the infamous early 2007 spring training report saying that Prior looked like "2003 Mark Prior?" Or was that Al Yellon? All these damn bloggers...can't keep track.
