  1. I'll probably open up a whole separate can of worms with these comments, but whatever. I've never even seen the point in taking young children to games. 8-9/10 kids are going to get bored and are going to be miserable (and complaining) and will just want to leave early at some point. Most young children just don't have the attention span to sit and watch a baseball game. Kids that aren't old enough to have these emotions make even less sense. Can these parents not find a babysitter or something? Why are you taking an infant to a baseball game? On top of all this, if you're sitting in certain areas, it's dangerous to them, too. Personally, I didn't go to a game until I was 10, and even then I didn't appreciate it all that much. I was about 12 when I actually started enjoying going to games. Maybe I'm the exception rather than the rule, though, who knows.
  2. This is going to be the best channel ever.
  3. I highly doubt, barring some second half dominance from Hill and some horrific pitching from Lilly, that Lou would ever put Hill in the playoff rotation ahead of Lilly.
  4. Like I said... those who want to are free to do it and I'm free to think it's douchey. I'm sure said individuals have never accused other people of being lame...
  5. They're a pain in the ass to lug around at the bars afterward? Drop it back in the car after the game before you hit the bars? (assuming your car is within a couple of blocks...) Usually ride the el...
  6. Am I the only one that clicked the link in this thread and didn't get anything?
  7. If that goes back to being a strict platoon when Soriano gets back, it should be fine. Edmonds may not OPS .900 against RHP all year, but he should be good for .750+, which is adequate enough. RJ is a fairly productive hitter against lefties. I agree but what worries me is how well Sori will come back from his injury. If he's back and doing his thing what you wrote is fine but if he isn't, what the Cubs have now imo won't win it all. More production is needed out of left and DeRosa/Johnson/Ward don't do it for me. The truth is, the chance of the best team going into the playoffs winning the World Series is only marginally better than the worst playoff team's chances. I only bring this up because it is a huge pet peeve of mine when anyone plays the "they won't have enough to win it all" card. If you're in the playoffs, you have enough to win it all. It's not romantic, it's not what everyone wants to hear, but it's pretty much the truth.
  8. Just curious, do you know how it was determined before they left it to the All Star game? It alternated each year. I can't remember who had odd and who had even though. you didn't raise your hand lol This reminds me of when I ask my nephew a question and my mom answers for him.
  9. was he the guy that scored the 100 point basket? i dunno, he was just that random mtv loser who always played in their dumb athletic events. Wasn't he the really cool guy Elaine dated that George had a man crush on too? Step off, brah.

  12. Plus that picture is pretty obviously taken at Wrigley Field...
  13. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/cs-080714-joe-crede-alex-rodriguez-morrissey,1,43626.column Has anyone ever written a lamer fluff piece? Wow.
  14. BTW, I really do think it's as lame as popped collars (the epitome of douchebaggery), but to each his own. Nobody is saying they can't.
  15. They're a pain in the ass to lug around at the bars afterward?
  16. Damn Soriano and his late-inning outfield orgies. loooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
  17. I think he just has a hard time recognizing who posted what, because earlier in the thread he referenced me positively contributing to the discussion (calling it "refreshing"). That couldn't be further from the truth.
  18. His struggles had little to do with the competition he was facing. He was walking everybody and not throwing the ball anywhere near the plate. Now he's throwing lots of strikes. There's definitely reason to be encouraged.
  19. Let's keep, beating, a dead, horse. Random, commas, are awesome,.
  20. I vote we call the Cubs the "Sorianos" in every game thread.
  21. What on Earth in Jehrico's post can be considered a smartass remark?
  22. Actually, some of his best numbers last year were when he was hitting leadoff when Soriano was hurt, and this year he has done pretty well there despite his early season struggles when they moved him there. All that said, lineup splits are pretty dumb and mean little to nothing in terms of predictive value.
  23. Yet, at the same time, you think Lou has it wrong and you have it right. It's funny, because before, when you insisted that Lou wanted Sori out of the leadoff spot, you used the same argument you're using now, but that time it was Lou & Hendry vs. a bunch of message board posters.
  24. Am I the only one who thinks thats a terrible comparison? You definitely aren't.
