  1. Top of my head, I'd guess the Giants, but I dunno. Dodgers 21, Giants 20, Cardinals 17. Should've known that. I totally forgot how long those teams had been around. ](*,)
  2. Yeah, well, after living through the '84 debacle trust me I would rather have won. Yea, I'm glad I wasn't around for that...but our generation of fans definitely got our own version of that in '03. I can honestly say I didn't need to find out what it felt like. The subsequent disastrous collapse of that pitching staff (which would've made us a playoff powerhouse for years to come) over the next few years was the cherry on top.
  3. Just out of curiosity...prior to 2004, when the Cardinals tied us, did any NL team have more NL pennants than the Cubs?
  4. You're absolutely right. You honestly believe that? Would you have anymore satisfaction as a fan if the Cubs had managed to pull one out in 69 or 75 or 84 or any other year? Who the hell cares? 84? You bet your butt I would have more satisfaction. Well yea, you. But I'm pretty sure he's a younger guy, which is why I tossed that in.
  5. You're absolutely right. You honestly believe that? Would you have anymore satisfaction as a fan if the Cubs had managed to pull one out in 69 or 75 or 84 or any other year? Who the hell cares?
  6. Neither could I, so I was like, "Screw it," and went with what I knew offhand.
  7. Losing is what this team does best. After all, they have a reputation to uphold. seriously? When did you start following the Cubs? Once again. THIS team refers to 2008 no? Not that it matters. The Cubs have 16 pennants, over 10,000 wins, a well over .500 all time record... but none of that matters because they haven't managed to win a WS in 100 years. Does anyone honestly care about the WS drought? I've been watching the Cubs for 13 years. I don't care what they did before then. Those of you that have been watching for 30-40 years, I understand the frustration, but that's still nowhere near 100 and there are plenty of teams that have been more futile over the recent past than the Cubs. I'm pretty sure nobody here has been waiting anywhere near 100 years for a championship. All the 100 years crap is just media and fan nonsense. It gives other team's fans (bogus) ammunition to talk trash. That's about it. If they had won a WS in 84 or 89, I'd be no more satisfied or happy as a Cubs fan than I am right now. Case in point, Brewer fans can talk all the crap they want about 100 years, but I'm pretty sure a lot of them haven't even seen a postseason series in their lifetimes.
  8. How should we react? Are things going well? I think there is plenty of reason to be concerned. There's more reason to not be concerned.
  9. I guess Lou really did pull him into his office and tell him to start hitting more home runs.
  10. When you troll a message board, you're a troll. You only ever post here about ONE subject. Hell, you couldn't even help yourself from including Soriano's name in your last post.
  11. He ran the count full, fouled off two pitches straight back, and swung and missed at one pitch. All in all, I would hardly call that a bad AB, despite the result. Granted, I know I just did the same thing, but there's really no point in attempting to reason with this troll.
  12. It was, what, a 6 pitch AB? Give me a freaking break, man.
  13. How many times this year has Lilly faced someone who throws less hard than him?
  14. You're right. It's terrible to have a ~.900ish OPS batting first and getting the most PAs on the team.
  15. We should play a drinking game... go search through wrigley23's posts and take a shot for every post of his that doesn't somehow relate to Soriano and leading off. I don't think any of us'll get very drunk.
  16. lol at Hester holding out when he was already in negotiations for a contract. He's only making 445k this year. At 15k a day, a ten day hold out would lose him over 1/3 of his football salary for this year. Ouch.
  17. I jumped so high during that game (I was drunk and it was a lower ceiling) at one point that I hit my head on the ceiling. Same thing almost happened when Hester ran the opening kickoff back two weeks later.
  18. Who are you and what the hell have you done with Soul?
  19. I'm not sure. But I think Kevin Jones is on it too.
  20. Devin Hester is officially holding out and has been placed on the reserve/did not report list (that being the case, they haven't had to cut anyone in light of the Williams signing). Kruetz is on the PUP list to start camp with an achilles injury (ugh). Tillman is excused with family issues. Dusty D. on the NFI list with a calf injury of some kind. Tried to catch all of it but I think I missed some other tidbits.
