  1. But they are complaining about stupid crap like our average today with RISP.
  2. People should really worry less about the hitting when the runners are on and moreso about just getting runners on in general. When you get more runners on, you get more opportunities to score, and you get more runs. The Cubs lead the league in getting runners on base, and, wouldn't you know, lead the league in runs scored.
  3. There's a small part of me that wants the Cubs to come back only to prove the people who say the game is over already wrong (the rest of me just wants them to win because I want them to win)...but it wouldn't really matter because they've done it countless times before and people just keep saying the same stuff. I guess I should just do a better job of not letting it bother me. [-(
  4. All three of the pitches to Soto were over the plate and would have been strikes. Same as his last AB. Geo is a straight pull hitter. I'd rather him not even swing at something away unless there's 2 strikes and he's just trying to fight it off. A called strike is better than weak contact, which is generally what you get when you attempt to pull an outside pitch.
  5. Can we all agree that we're extremely happy to have Marquis "bringing down" this staff and not Estes? I'm pretty sure Estes's stats were so bad that they made an otherwise dominant rotation's overall stats look just above average...
  6. Yet he's one out from a quality start. I can't say that I'm happy with mediocre pitching. I'm just not mad about it either. That's kind of what mediocre is. In a pennant race, mediocrity steams me up a little. I guess we're just different like that. He's a 5th starter...
  7. You mean like we're consistently good in the games we win and consistently bad in the games we lose? Like we've been consistently bad today, and two posts earlier you had questioned my prediction that the Cubs weren't going to win? And if it wasn't over before, it is now. BTW, you completely missed the point of that post. When the offense is good, the Cubs typically win. When it's bad, they typically lose. (Obviously, there are outliers in both cases)... They've won nearly 60% of their games. That's pretty damn consistently good.
  8. I was pretty sure that got out...
  9. You mean like we're consistently good in the games we win and consistently bad in the games we lose? Like we've been consistently bad today, and two posts earlier you had questioned my prediction that the Cubs weren't going to win? And if it wasn't over before, it is now. What on earth are you talking about?
  10. Because Morganesque nonsense pisses me off.
  11. You mean like we're consistently good in the games we win and consistently bad in the games we lose?
  12. Seriously? The game is over in the 6th inning? You would think that, with the way the Cubs have played this year, people wouldn't react this way still... :-s
  13. It might just be my perception, but it seems like Soriano has been working much better counts lately....
  14. Why do all of our freaking hits/baserunners seem to come with two outs... Oh well, at least Soriano can take one deep.
  15. Do people really need to be able to justify a bad performance so badly that they need to label it somehow? I just don't get why people have such a hard time accepting that a lot of things in life (and baseball) have to do with luck/variance. If the best team doesn't win, there doesn't have to be a "reason" for it. It just happens. If the Cubs lose today, it's because they didn't score more runs than the Pirates. It has nothing to do with a "letdown."
  16. When people do stupid crap, be it my favorite player or not, it's still stupid crap. It's one thing if you do the right thing and get a bad result. I'm OK with that. Swinging at the first pitch away (by a pull hitter, mind you) after the pitcher has walked two guys with two outs and the bases are loaded isn't what I would call smart. There are times to swing at a first pitch. That wasn't one of them.
  17. Two walks in the inning, bases loaded, and what does Soto do? Swing at the first two pitches like a moron.
  18. Whoops. Fixed.
  19. Also, this is obvious, but when we face the Pirates, they'll be Nady and Bay-less. When we face Atlanta they'll be without Teix. When we face the Reds, they'll be Griffey-less (not that it matters all that much, but he seems to get some big hits against us).

  21. Oh, and Harden threw me off with the choice of the ugly grey jersey. WTF?
  22. I was at this game...right after taking the Miller brewery tour. Fun times.
  23. Marlins get: Manny Ramirez, cash, prospect from Red Sox Red Sox get: Jason Bay, John Grabow Pirates get: Ryan Tucker, Jeremy Hermida, one prospect from Red Sox
