  1. Where you staying? I'm jealous. I meant that game in 04 w/the Phils. And it was with my parents. It was lame (because I was mostly gambling by myself), but we stayed at Bellagio. I ran into Coach K in the elevator. I was wondering who the hell he was and why he looked familiar. Realized it just as we got to the lobby and he was walking away. Obviously, the trips I've taken since with my buddies have been 100x more fun, though. I need to go sometime soon. It's usually ~10hrs a day at the poker tables and then lots of drinking. Maybe a few pit games sprinkled in.
  2. Which makes it a wash. For those fans who care about bragging rights, the Sox got there first. Beating the Sox for a championship would give those fans the ultimate trump card. Me, I couldn't care less about any of it, outside of maybe when I'm at a Cubs/Sox games and surrounded by some of their fans.
  3. To listen to the stream, btw, you'll have to switch the little pop up menu (where it says more streams) to Chicago. Otherwise, you'll get the national feed with Tirico and Van Pelt. You may have to switch from the Flash player to the Windows Media. I did. Not sure why.
  4. Tampa? Yea, but only because I have nightmares about that series and their rotation scares me. I wouldn't worry about the Angels much more than I'd worry about any other team, though. I don't think they're as good as people think/their record suggests.
  5. Video shouldn't work until 1pm. You should be able to listen to the audio stream, though.
  6. Yea, they're getting desperate for legends, but anyway... it's pretty good Just a heads up. You can pick up the rest of it at ESPN1000.com, and I'm guessing there'll be a podcast later for those who miss it.
  7. Is the reaction he's looking for, "Holy crap, Phil Rogers is a complete imbecile!!"? Because, if it is, that plus/minus system for rating teams' offseasons was probably successful.
  8. Yea, I glanced at this last night. Really, really stupid.
  9. Gooz gets Howry's spot first. Am I the only one who doesn't trust Guzman to be an effective reliever? Do you trust him less than Howry? I don't think anybody is investing anything into Guzman beyond hoping that he does prove to be an effective reliever over the next few weeks, because that would be a nice way to round out our bullpen and replace Howry. I don't think people necessarily believe he will, but I, for one, believe he can and hope he will...
  10. I was watching that game in some bar at Midway waiting for my flight on my first trip to Vegas.
  11. I got a 3 year subscription to the magazine on ebay for $4, so I get that inside scoop on the site for free. both are pretty worthless Just curious...have there been any Cubs features in any of the issues this year? I always like that kind of stuff, no matter how worthless the content usually is.
  12. Should be fun when we get to the head to head games and can knock two games off at once.
  13. Pat Hughes credits his radio abilities to the fact that he did years of broadcasting in the minor leagues with no color man. When you have to fill 3 hours of airtime on your own, I think it makes you a better pbp guy this is probably when he decided to talk about the players' strapping bodies with their white pinstriped pants and their blue alternate jerseys, with blue belts, blue helmets, and blue shoes.
  14. exactly. plus, knowing z, there's always the possibility of some kind of injury or pain that he's hiding, and it's something that might not fix itself this year (especially as he tries to pitch thru it). it's probably unlikely, given his history, but it's certainly possible. i'd at least like to see him get a few extra days of rest, maybe a turn skip or something.
  15. That's cool. I drove to Cincy in 2003 totally randomly one time after finishing class for the Estes game. My buddy and I just got in the car and went. Fun times.
  16. Did you watch them clinch at a bar afterward or something? I remember it being a good while after our game ended...
  17. Wow... Lincecum is at like 130 pitches. WTH is wrong with so many managers?
  18. I must have missed the memo that said 13-5 is considered a "struggle". I wonder if you missed the memo that said in the past four weeks Zambrano has a 7.42 ERA and a 1.725 WHIP. Or maybe you got that memo but missed the memo that said a 7.42 ERA and a 1.725 WHIP is indicative of a "struggle." August has never been a good month for him. For more evidence, please see August of 2007. Is he pitching poorly? Sure. Am I worried? Not a bit. Talk to me in September. You're wrong, but ok. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?playerId=4499&type=pitching&year=2003 Go ahead and look at his August numbers from 2003-2006 and let me know how bad they are. Not that there was any need to disprove this ridiculous theory.
  19. LOL back to back solo shots for the Giants 2-1 SF
  20. Yes, because one slump by a player one year means the same thing will happen the next year and that there's nothing to worry about when it does. Just ask Bob Howry. He's a lights out second half reliever.
  21. Maybe we should trade for that guy. Wrong roberts
  22. Roberts nailed as home as he attempted to score the tying run.... I love having MLB.tv
  23. I must have missed the memo that said 13-5 is considered a "struggle". Yea, he hasn't been bad recently or anything. Stop trolling.
  24. The Livan Hernandez from the 07 NLDS has decided to show up in SF... He's outdueling Lincecum right now
  25. Can't help it. If we all accepted that we were locks for the playoffs, then what the hell would we do for the next 29 games? The Cubs fans are used to clinching the last couple days of the season, having such great odds in late August is something we refuse to grasp. For me it's more about wanting to clinch the division as soon as possible. Clinching in that last home series would be pretty awesome.
