i wonder if any team won't offer up the posting fee and make the pitch I'm sure his agent will make sure to tell all but 5-10 teams not to bother. ah good point i think i might've gotten the same answer when i wondered that about tanaka

Once he's officially posted, there's a set time for teams to decide to bid up to $20 mil, I don't remember how long that is(maybe a week?). Once that's done and Otani can negotiate, I think it'll happen relatively quickly. He can't play teams against each other for more money, so he'll probably get a pitch from everyone and make his pick. i wonder if any team won't offer up the posting fee and make the pitch

As an aside - completely agreed. I’m all about Aaron Judge being more Jeremy Lin than say...Kris Bryant’s equal or lol superior. I love Severino and Sanchez short and long term but do not believe they stack with the Cubs’ best. jesus christ aaron judge isn't jeremy lin. that's a terrible analogy.

not a 2018 draft prospect, but i had no idea jaden agassi (andre and steffi graf's son) is a (somewhat?) highly regarded recruit out of vegas. committed to usc for 2020. -
are you delusional or what No? Are we really conceding this guy because the team can’t offer him a whopping $3.5 million or whatever? Sorry - a couple million bucks and not enough Japanese people in the area or something? we're not conceding anything. we have nothing to do with the cubs' chances to sign him. you might, however, want to make your expectations a little more realistic if you're going to be devastated if the cubs don't land him, because they're damn near certainly not going to.
