I think we have to sign Harper next yr to keep Bryant beyond 2021. IF Harper doesn't join Bryant in Chicago, Bryant very likely joins Harper elsewhere. don't think that's even a little bit true but i hope we sign bryce harper

legitimately keeping the powder dry for bryce harper wouldn't exactly break my heart. and i fully expect a trade for an SP on top of what looks like a very likely cobb signing.

these are jesse rogers's opinions (as opposed to him reporting who tomorrow's starting pitcher is, which he can at least sort of do) so the correct way to look at them is to expect the opposite to be true

I'm perfectly willing to put the cart before the horse and say there are zero circumstances in which I would welcome Lackey back next year. I'd go as far as to say I'd rather have Tseng in the rotation. He was barely above replacement level this year and is only getting older. By definition, that isn't hard to find. I'm not sure what this idea is that he provides anything of value just because he "eats (children) innings."

i could swear matt spiegel fishes this board for ideas [tweet] [/tweet] i know this could easily be a coincidence but it's not the first time i've heard him come up with ideas on their show that we have kicked around here that haven't been all over cubs twitter and whatnot. I was just listening to this segment, he was cool with a Russell and Happ or Almora trade for Britton and Gausmen and then hope to sign Machado for SS next year. What the hell?!? And it would make sense I guess if he’s fishing here for ideas to pander off as his own. He’s not gonna get checked by a twitter guy or whatever for “stealing ideas” most likely and it can be “original” and generally speaking most of our ideas are semi reasonable/realistic. now they have a guest on to talk about pete carmichael as a bears HC candidate...he mentioned carmichael yesterday. sulley mentioning carmichael yesterday was the first time i'd seen him talked about as a candidate (i could have completely missed that he's been talked about a lot before or something, to be fair).

I've always been take it or leave it with him. There's nothing special about him. He's not a mastermind. He is a competent DC. He is replaceable. Get the head coaching and offensive coaches right. I think he's a tad better than competent but I'm pretty much on board with this thinking.
