  1. Which makes wanting Giancarlo strange because in about 4 years that contract is going to look just as bad as Pujols' contract. nah he's freshly turned 28 and whoever gets him is probably going to get surplus value out of the first few years and money is worth less and less as time goes on, especially in mlb fwiw, his 2017 fWAR was "worth" $55M on its own. pujols was 32 and almost immediately bad
  2. i figured it might be, but i'm a robot so
  3. well, it has been, but in a far less relevant way (the two flights to and from japan, one of which - spring - is the same for all the teams he picked) than the one he's talking about.
  4. i truly don't think they were approaching free agency with a win this year mindset in any of his FA periods (granted, he's had some large misses, regardless, and at least a couple good hits in Hicks and Sitton - amukamara also not a terrible signing). i think they will actually use the cap space to go aggressively after the higher end talent this year with grooming trubisky and the new hc and everything in mind. i think of it kind of like the cubs approached the offseasons in 2011-13 (not saying that the bears should have been doing it this way - just that i think they are/have been) and i think this will be more like the cubs' post 2014 offseason. we'll see.
  5. wait but they were right about that
  6. not sure which is the dumber poll between these two [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. if you're really asking, yes if it's rhetorical, pretend i posted nothing (you can see the videos yourself on the cubs snapchat story, but it's not worth going out of your way for...just 3-4 clips of him working out at their facility)
  8. this might be a record for earliest best shape of his life story [tweet] [/tweet]
  9. What did I miss? Since when is he not willing to go to SF? I've know heard he's reluctant to go to St Louis
  10. i can't imagine what special kind of nuts you have to be to take wil myers and manuel margot over all those dudes we have who are all better, or all those dudes on the dodgers
  11. i'm too lazy to do it so anyone wanna do my thing for me and check cubs players social media accounts to see if anyone's stories had anything about traveling or being in LA?
  12. i don't think there's anything more to it than there were 7 teams and they could fit 3 in per day and had one left over. i mean, if he picks the horsefeathering padres over the cubs or dodgers, then go weirdo, i guess.
  13. I am sure there is room at the Zachary Hotel. A nice 2 bedroom suite, replete with amenities all for $100/mo. He doesn't make enough to afford a fancy condo after all. uber lurker alert
  14. if he really wants all those world series, he's got two options.
  15. pretty sure it was actually written The point stands that Verducci's book is incomplete information from a second-hand source well, yeah. duh. i was just more shocked that dude wasn't aware of verducci's book than anything. it's a great book. buy it.
  16. Isnt "the cubs way" the book that the FO put together themselves when they first got here to basically standardize the organizational philosophy? I thought this joke was gonna be about how dumb it would be to distribute that book to somebody who was likely to sign with a direct competitor. No, the Cubs Way was an unwritten discipline that they developed that Verducci shared insight into in a book he called The Cubs Way. pretty sure it was actually written
  17. [tweet] [/tweet] ayyyyy lmaooooooooooo
  18. Well this is an absolutely silly ass thing to say
  19. another example of this is still talking like the bonus amount is a key factor when like half the teams on his list (after he eliminated like 23? teams - meaning he easily could have eliminated the 300k bonus teams too) are in the penalty box too.
  20. lmaooooooo just what in the horsefeathers is this [tweet] [/tweet]
  21. lmfao, what? no. signing ohtani literally allows us to do the opposite of that
  22. because fox is still attempting to prioritize not losing (poorly) over player development, for one.
