  2. Agreed even as someone who doesn’t outright dislike it. am i the only one who thinks "solid as a muh" and "don't outright dislike" mean very different things, even in the way of subjective statements that are open to interpretation?
  3. I don't think it's a flaw with anything. I just think fWAR/FIP can't be blindly applied and FIP beaters do exist. Is Chatwood a FIP beater? His ERA is pretty close to his FIP and almost identical to his xFIP for his career. It looks to me like he's getting the results that he has deserved to this point. I didn't say that anywhere. I was explaining the reason for the discrepancy between his fWAR and his bWAR
  4. 5.1 fWAR in 6 "seasons" but fWAR doesn't like GB guys who don't strike many out. Do you think that's a flaw with fWAR or do you think that's a flaw with guys who don't strike many out? I don't think it's a flaw with anything. I just think fWAR/FIP can't be blindly applied and FIP beaters do exist.
  5. basically everything about that question from derwood was weird as horsefeathers but i ignored it because i didn't want to pile on him more
  6. 5.1 fWAR in 6 "seasons" but fWAR doesn't like GB guys who don't strike many out. Got it. Didn't realize there was that big a difference from BR. fWAR is more peripherals/FIP based, bWAR is based on actual outcomes
  7. Where are you getting this? 5.1 fWAR in 6 "seasons" but fWAR doesn't like GB guys who don't strike many out.
  8. This has to be the most Heyman tweet ever [tweet] [/tweet]
  9. Heavy ground ball guys also tend to have not-great looking peripherals. That said, I would obviously have liked to have seen a lot fewer walks on the road.
  10. He's got a real nice ERA at Wrigley [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. 37BB in 70.1IP at Coors 40BB in 77.1IP away So it doesn't seem like that's the problem. The walks and low innings are the only things I don't like. Hopefully the control is something Hickey can improve. Right, but it isn't that black and white. The fact that he has to pitch half his innings at Coors could be hindering him on the road.

  13. Why is that a hot take? Seems like a reasonable argument to me. I don't hate this deal. I don't love it either. They need pitchers and he should benefit from leaving Coors, from the Cubs defense, and maybe from new coaching/pitch usage. He still walks a ton of guys and doesn't get a lot of Ks and has had TJ twice. It's fair to think this isn't a great signing. It's worth the risk for the Cubs, but it's not a no brainer. The headline is a super hot take. The article is fine and reasonable.
  14. Seriously, tho, if they do this, this makes them less of a threat against us for Harper right?
  15. I was perplexed at first thinking this would be Passan. Either way, though, the worst thing about this article is the headline
  16. Seems like a lot more pros than cons for a signing that costs under $13M aav

  18. Ha...that quote is at least a year old, iirc. I remember watching him say that when he was at MLB Network's studio explaining his swing.
  19. Can we possibly get road splits on the statcast data and all the other peripherals?
  20. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PITCHING??!
  21. god i love this FO
