  1. I want what's best for the team in the regular season, and, IMO, what's best for the team in the regular season is for Wade Miller not to start every 5 days over Guzman. That's my opinion. You guys are entitled to yours. BTW, I'm not rooting for a player to fail. I'm of the opinion that Wade Miller is not a very good pitcher at this point in his career, and I am rooting for the reality of that to bear out in this small sample size today. What I don't want is for him to have another fluke good outing that will win him a job and wind up losing real games for us.
  2. Descriptions of the individual forum sections are MIA.
  3. Yeah, because having too many capable pitchers is a bad thing. That was such a careless post. I'm hoping he kicks ass. I'd rather have Gooz in the long-man role. He still learning how to pitch. He'd make a nasty weapon coming out of the pen. If you guys think Wade Miller is going to be a capable ML starting pitcher once the regular season rolls around, good for you. I'll go on being "careless" and expecting not very much from him.
  4. :?
  5. I'm not big on rooting against Cub players, but here's hoping that Wade Miller gets pasted.
  6. This guy is really unlikeable in so many ways. Almost like another Paul Sullivan.
  7. Please tell me he really didn't say that. Oh my! Ya, Len made the point that with Sori you're just gonna try to live with the occasional errors because of what he brings with the bat and Wittenmyer went on to say that you can't overstate the importance of defense and went on to make that horrendous point.
  8. Wow. What a terrible point by Gordon Wittenmyer. "You're supposed to be fielding near 1.000, as opposed to hitting where you're just supposed to be around 40%. So, uh, do the math as to which is more important." Give me a friggin' break.
  9. 19/21, huh? It's spring and not a good sample, so that doesn't really mean much, but, still, impressive.
  10. Wasn't the story that Prior stopped working out his calves so much after his achilles problems? Anyways, they're smaller, but they're not SMALL, as subjective as an evaluation as that may be.
  11. Holy giant pic, sorry about that. Don't have any software to resize here at work...
  12. Nope, pitched this morning. Well, if you call it pitching. 4 IP, 2H, 0 R..... You wouldnt call that pitching? I think there's a lot of over-reacting based on one guy's opinion. Al Yellon ain't no AZ Phil. Wow, Al Yellon. I remember that name from like 10 years ago on the Cubs usenet newsgroup. Also, I think they got the impression that his calves were small because he wasn't wearing the "high socks." http://images.bleedcubbieblue.com/images/admin/prior0316b.jpg
  13. I'm by no means a fan of Muskat, but I'd roll my eyes too. Calling his calves "stick-like" is asinine.
  14. Wasn't Prior pitching at night? Or is this just completely wrong?
  15. I'm just curious, without having to wade through all 10 pages, has Bruce made an appearance in this thread and made any kind of comment on the speculation? I've been following this thread fairly regularly, but I'm not sure.
  16. Most of these are valid and if you choose to vilify him for that stuff, fine. The corked bat, even though it does nothing to help him as a hitter, does reflect on his character because he likely fully believed that it would give him an edge. The thing about the steroid hearings gets to me, though. I really don't understand why people don't get this. I speak Spanish at home, and I'm very comfortable with it (probably significantly more comfortable with it than Sammy is with English). Still, if I were in another country and was placed in a similar situation (where every word was under a microscope and the things I said were under so much scrutiny), I would feel far more comfortable saying whatever I had to say in English, my primary language. Is it so hard to understand that in such a setting he feels more comfortable with an interpreter????
  17. My apologies. I don't know where, given his past behavior, I would think that Sammy is not a "team player". And my post was nonsense? Wow. The idea of team players in baseball is pure and utter conventional wisdom nonsense. EDIT - And what Chris said.
  18. OMG HE USED THE WORD 'I' LIKE A MILLION TIMES IN THAT QUOTE!!! HE'S NOT A TEAM PLAYERRRR!!!! Please. It's nonsense.
  19. Or Mark Grace. Otherwise, agreed, entirely.
  20. Are you serious? I mean, wanting the regulars to play because they're on TV is fine, but who cares what happens in this game? The fact that it's against the Sox doesn't make it anything more than a meaningless ST game. I just don't get it. Don't mean to jump on you, it's just a pet peeve of mine after hearing all these callers on the radio after the last game with them. I also think that any Sox fan who got any sense of satisfaction from winning the first meeting is severely lacking in IQ points.
  21. He was never really that good. Definitely not on Prior's level. Rick Ankiel is pretty much the classic example of this, although even he was never as good as Prior was in 2003.
  22. I like it. I'm really excited to see how Murton progresses this year. Hopefully, he'll get the PA's to do that.
