  1. I was thinking the same thing. It's like arguing whether or not the sky is blue or something.
  2. Why on earth would you say that the batter is limited to trying to hit a HR here? It makes no sense to me at all. 5-4 with 2 outs and nobody on >>>>> 5-3 with 2 outs and one on
  3. I definitely wouldn't. This is another of those conventional wisdom statements that people continue to perpetuate that make no logical sense. It's the "home runs are rally killers" mindset.
  4. Is the workaround just opening 9999 windows (tabs, actually)? Because I already do that.
  5. Oh, and now he's acting like Theriot's walk last night is vindication. What a loud mouth moron. I cannot stand Mike Murphy (and yet I listen to him, I know...It's the only local sports talk on at this time..I usually wait him out before B&B).... He's a nice little player, that's it.
  6. ROFL, Murph is on the Score right now on a rant about how much criticism he's gotten for saying Theriot is the team MVP. I was a little amazed to hear Bruce Miles agree with him on that, btw. Anyway, it's a flat out ridiculous claim and he deserves all the emails he's gotten. Now he's calling all his cronies onto the air that agree with him. Give me a freaking break. How can anybody even suggest that Theriot is more valuable to this team than Aramis, Lee, Soriano, or even DeRosa? Why do people love to make completely absurd hyperbolic statements like this? Theriot isn't any major league team's MVP.
  7. Good memory. Thank ya. Was that also the Andy Pratt game?
  8. Great! When do they do the flip? They did it a week or two ago. I remember seeing a thread on it somewhere.
  9. Try to not lose again.
  10. Carlos Alberto Zambrano http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6559.jpg 110 ERA+ 1.338 WHIP vs. Aaron Michael Harang http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6936.jpg 129 ERA+ 1.130 WHIP
  11. Looks like I'll be starting another game thread.
  12. Voted to brand. Not that I care a whole lot about this or have ever been up in arms about the steroid issue, but it would be a pretty sweet FU to see this happen.
  13. Well, that's assuming that a higher walk rate is inherent to a strikeout pitcher. While that's often the case, I don't think it is necessarily so. Mark Prior (when he was healthy) was a prime example. You don't have to sacrifice k's to lower your BB rate. Mark Prior was a rare breed, though. I think it's pretty fair to say that high walk rates are inherent in strikeout pitchers, by and large.
  14. Looks like 3rd, but a valid point.
  15. 6th in MLB isn't really that bad, is it (not that I disagree with the rest of your point)?
  16. Sorry this took so long. Just got in.
  17. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6498.jpg Bronson Anthony Arroyo 110 ERA+ 1.388 WHIP vs. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7578.jpg Richard Joseph Hill 116 ERA+ 1.204 WHIP
  18. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6493.jpg 1.316 WHIP 109 ERA+ vs. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6393.jpg 2.376 WHIP 35 ERA+ Please don't suck, Marquis. And please don't suck against Mulder, Cubs. As lopsided as those stats look, I'm sure Marquis will get pasted and Mulder will give up one run through 7.
  19. UM has been good for two good winning streaks now. I'll try to do the same, but hopefully I won't have to start a thread for a few more games.
  20. Sammy holds the Cubs' strikeout record in an injury shortened 1997 season? Is that right?
  21. I basically was going to post what's already been posted about 5x about Aramis having said he wants to play the rest of the way, so I won't even bother. Oh, wait...guess I did.
  22. Finally, someone that shares my exact view on this subject. Nice!
  23. The Cardinals are charging, I know that. I would bet almost any amount of money that the Cardinals don't win this division. It'll be either the Brewers or Cubs. You want to make a wager? You seriously want to bet on the Cardinals? No I want the damn division to be over, but I don't mind taking your money. I will gladly pay if I am wrong. What kind of odds do you want? Brewers win no one gets anything. Cards win you pay me. Cubs win I happily send you money. The ammount is up to you. I was going to give you 2-1 and just take the Cubs and Brewers, but that works for me, I guess. How's $50 sound?
