  1. I just saw that. I guess we'll find out soon enough. It would be a joke if it's true, though. Are we seriously moving backwards here? I did find this though... http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantonio/stories/2007/10/01/daily6.html Looks like we might even be able to tell by tonight's one game playoff.
  2. More like 2003...but it's a classic. Now the Cho Rly one (2007)... that one was bad.
  3. Link to a good D'Backs board? I tried googling last night, but couldn't find one.
  4. One of em is Jonah Keri, editor and contributor to Baseball Between the Numbers. I might have to pick up the book. I always meant to and forgot about it. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0465005969 Heh, I was looking at reviews for that book, and I found a pretty funny one. Pretty much mirrors a common theme on this board. At the very least, one of the more well spoken arguments against the numbers I've seen, although he did have to resort to the "pencil necked geeks," line. At least he (almost) admits (or at least, seems to suggest) that the reason he doesn't like the numbers is that he wants to keep some of the mystery and sort of innocence of the game in tact.

  7. It's not like they're long posts. Mostly 1-liners. Yea...my post was pretty much complete sarcasm.
  8. Hell, if you can't go, hook me up with those resources!
  9. He can be unhappy with his most recent performance because it was bad but unconcerned because Marquis won't be coming out of the pen in the playoffs. I suppose, but it's not like he has been pitching well in his starts lately either. I would think some of the disappointment he showed in the dugout during marquis' bullpen outing was directly effected by his poor pitching overall lately. ESPN (consider the source) bottom line has game 3 starter as either Hill or Marquis. Surely Lou is not dumb enough to start Marquis for game 3 (or at all for that matter). Hill will be starting game 3. The question is if Marquis will start game 4 or if it will be Z on 3 days rest. It's not really a question anymore at this point. Lou was on the radio this morning and said he intends to go with the 3 man. He could always change his mind, though.
  10. http://static.zoovy.com/img/cubworld/-/nlds_pics/chicago_cubs_division_champ_cap_non_watermarked.jpg The official locker room hat.
  11. I've decided I'm done buying shirts for things like division championships (which I did in 03) and wild cards (which I did in 98). They become worthless in a matter of days, anyway, because they either lose (and who wants to wear a tribute to what amounts to a failure) or they win and then you want the real championship gear. That said, I might pick up a new fitted Cubs hat this week before I head to the playoff game. My old one is looking pretty beat from everyday wear.
  12. Yea. I mean, the sample size really tells us nothing, but the history of SP's going on short rest is not good. Once they're playing, though, that's out the window. Beckett seemed to do pretty well being pitched what seemed like every 2 days in 2003. What it comes down to is that Z in game 4 on short rest and Lilly on normal rest in game 5 beats any realistic alternative, because Lou is not going to pitch Lilly ahead of his "ace."
  13. Lilly would not be on 3 days rest if Z is pitching the first and last games.
  14. Does it have to do with last night's episode? Missed it.
  15. I see Larry David and Jeff Garlin, but I don't get the reference at all...
  16. Hah.. Hub Arkush thinks the Cubs are gonna have to carry all three catchers. Moron. I know you're a huge Cubs fan, Hub, but stick to football. He also said it would be "sacrilege" to keep Marquis off the playoff roster (though he admitted it would probably be the right move). How is that anywhere near "sacrilege??"
  17. That can't be right. Chicago is such a huge market, there is no way they would start Playoff games that late. It'll hurt the ratings. Seems right. Makes for a 7:30 start on the west. In terms of Chicago, I doubt they'll lose that much viewership to the late start. Nationally, they would, though.
  18. I could be wrong, but I don't think rooftop seats will be any bargain themselves. Usually, companies rent those out for outings and such. Not exactly sure how an individual would gain entry. You might wanna try this... http://www.wrigleyrooftops.com/
  19. He is. That's why they made a big deal about it.
  20. Piniella said it this morning on the Score. I've heard it.
  21. Why would Fox put those times up then? Stupid Fox. First Fox News, now this. TBS is at fault this time.
  22. tbs has hd... check with your service provider Yep. DirecTV picked it up last week. I think Comcast is getting it in the next couple days. My buddy has Dish Network...not sure if he's gonna have it.
  23. Details are overwhelming. Cliffs please?
  24. Don't see why they would change it. This one is through tickets.com....wasn't the NLDS through the Cubs official website? The one through the Cubs website was still through Tickets.com. And I'm pretty sure you'll still be able to get to this one through the Cubs site. It wouldn't make any sense for there not to be a link just like before.
