  1. And Lee and Nomar. Not at that point. 2005 Lee, for sure.
  2. Has nothing to do with what you posted... but everytime I read one of your posts, I think you're the dude with the bloody nose in your av. I wonder if you guys think I'm a famous young hot girl. sorry, did you say something? I was staring at your Rusch's hahha
  3. Oh, and if it were up to me, in that lineup, I would've swapped CPatt and Walker, FWIW.
  4. Has nothing to do with what you posted... but everytime I read one of your posts, I think you're the dude with the bloody nose in your av. I wonder if you guys think I'm a famous young hot girl. More like a creepy old dude who obsesses to much about a hot girl  Almost. I'm 24 though. :)
  5. Screw that...It's CF Patterson 1B Lee SS Garciaparra LF Alou RF Sosa 3B Ramirez 2B Walker C Barrett (P Prior) Oh, wait.. Still my all time favorite on paper Cubs lineup... God, that's beautiful... despite Corey being horribly miscast as a leadoff man.

  7. It's a terrible argument. If he wants to ignore it he can. If you or I find that analysis makes baseball more enjoyable then that is fine also. I hate that argument. No one is holding a gun to his head, or saying that 20-game winners are bad pitchers. i can safely say that 1998 Kevin Tapani was a bad (almost) 20 game winner 2003 Russ Ortiz
  8. A) OK, fine. He's a $10 million man now. If you want to look at it that way, despite the rest of the money allocated to him over the year's, it's fine. But just keep in mind how bad it's going to look when he's making a king's ransom to be a 39 year old bench player. The money will be going to him, inevitably. That behemoth of a contract is untradeable (unless we pay someone to take him off our hands later on). B) He's A reason we are in the playoffs. Not THE reason. Nor does this justify his salary. He was also a major reason we were on the brink of a disastrous season/collapse, since he was being paid for and counted on for great production, and he wasn't delivering. I'm fine with Sori this year and want him to do well. I'm a fan of his because he's on the Cubs and because he really came up big this last month for us. I just felt that these things needed to be pointed out.

No one is holding a gun to his head, or saying that 20-game winners are bad pitchers. Didn't say it was a good one. Just well spoken. Most of the time I come across an argument against the numbers, it's completely illogical and incoherent. At least this guy can (almost) admit that he's ok with being blind to the truth, and doesn't insist that his truth is right and the numbers are wrong. He just basically says he doesn't want to hear it and just wants to enjoy the game at face value.
  10. You could argue that this is a case of trying to be anti-East coast bias, in a way, though. The game start times are obviously meant to appease the AZ market and the fans who will be going to the game by giving them what would be a prime-time start over there. If, despite the game being on the west coast, they had set this game for a 7 CT start, it would've, in a sense, been indicative of an eastern (don't want to say east coast, in this case) bias. Games don't normally start at 5 PM over there. who in Arizona are they trying to appease by having the Sunday game be at 10am Arizona time? Yea. That's pretty crappy.
  11. Yea, that Sunday noon start does suck.

  13. I'll buy a pennant for as far as we go...I've got them for every playoff year from 84 forward...they cover a large portion of my basement wall. lawl.. Small wall, amirite?
  14. lawl...Good one liner from Stone just now. A caller called in and mentioned how Hub had said this and how stupid it was. Stone - "Right. Well, Hub does football." It was funny at the time, trust me.
  15. It could also have a lot to do with the run differential and the perception that AZ has done it with smoke and mirrors all year. A few of those guys, namely Neyer, aren't exactly dumb. I suppose, I'd need to hear it specifically though. Because it seems like every time I turn on these talking heads they always pick either 1) last year's winner, or 2) the team with the most "veteran presence." It's like a script, just follow along and don't deviate. Definitely. I'm not gonna argue with that. There's a few guys there (like Phillips) who would probably use that exact crap reasoning.

  17. It's not just people going to the game or the marathon. It's a city-wide concern for all commuters. It's certainly not anywhere near ideal. It's going to be hell to get around.
  18. Um, yea. I'm always late to the party.
  19. I really don't think MLB cares about a Chicago Marathon. What's more important a yearly marathon or a Cub playoff game. Traffic concerns.
  20. Nopers. viewtopic.php?t=44336
  21. Jeez... Jeff Cirillo is still in the league? That's almost as surprising as Augie to me.
  22. Yea, I am too...I'm usually up till 2 or 3.. But I didn't really want to be partying that late with work in the morning. Ah, well. This happens what, once every 5 years?
  23. What about the weekend games? I only heard games 1 and 2 on the radio here. DAMN that sucks! I'll still only believe it when it comes from MLB.com though. Well, this is ESPN radio, Im sure its 100% right. While I would guess that the report is right, it's sort of funny/ironic that you place that much credibility into anything ESPN. I was being sarcastic.. lol Figures I would miss that.
  24. What about the weekend games? I only heard games 1 and 2 on the radio here. DAMN that sucks! I'll still only believe it when it comes from MLB.com though. Why does that suck? at least it's not in the morning. Because we'll have to be up past midnight (and later with all the excitement if they win) on weeknights? I don't care. I'll still be heading to Wrigleyville afterward if they win.
