  1. Christopher Morel has homered in back to back games. He used to play for the cubs.
  2. These are professional athletes with jobs, money, and playoff spots on the line. And pride. No one cares about throwing the horsefeathers White Sox a bone. This isn’t tossing a cookie down the middle of the plate to a Cal Ripken Jr. in the 2001 all star game. It’s avoiding the distinction of handing the historically embarrassing White Sox their first win since July 10. Are the twins, who are clinging to a WC spot, going to roll over one day this weekend? The A’s are pathetic but they’re not going to lay down for the one team in the AL they can claim superiority over. If they happen to win a game in the next week, it’s because the statistical probability of losing seven games in a row, even for awful teams, is low.
  3. Oh I was definitely being tongue-in-cheek there but I guess the illustrative point I would make from the rumor that they were basically trying to use their best trade chip to rid themselves of Benintendi’s contract rather than maximize prospect return is that the White Sox’ priority in trades is not the same as any other team’s. They’re a very dysfunctional organization. Combined with the prospect hugging that occurred this deadline, if and when they do trade Crochet, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s light relative to expectations. Two back half of their trading partner’s top ten and some lottery tickets, maybe? Long way of saying I completely agree with you that we wouldn’t have to touch the top guys in our system if Jed wanted to make a run at him.
  4. What? No. This is not even remotely a thing. No team wants to be the team to lose to a squad with a sub-.250 winning %.
  5. Yeah, I mean, it’s Jerry we’re talking about here. Just take on Benintendi’s salary and offer them Brennen Davis.
  6. Yeah, I like that the Cubs have a deep and well regarded farm system, but unlike the farm system of 2012-2015, there’s not a single specific prospect I’m particularly attached to. Earlier this year I’d have said Horton until he reminded me TINSTAAPP. I’d love to see them make a prospect trade or two to address any of C, power bat, TOR SP, etc.
  7. What about the return for our best reliever fills you with regret that we didn’t trade any of our roster flotsam?
  8. You’re asking me to translate for Tom?
  9. Respectfully, Tom, can you take this horsefeathers to Reddit or something? Or like, start a separate Tom-only mega thread where you can post your musings that the rest of us can ignore? The interjections of the same rant you’ve been beating this entire board over the head with for months (years?) are beyond obnoxious at this point.
  10. White Sox snuck a run across on Thursday before being shutout last night. The Cubs stand alone.
  11. Nah, you’re good. Former Cubs prospect Dylan Cease. It fits.
  12. I think it was Biggs that mentioned on the Score this morning Eberflus’ plan for Williams during the preseason will be dependent on what members of the OL are healthy and available in a given week. Seems like a sound enough approach to me. If starters get dinged up and they’re resorting to practice squad guys, play it safe. Otherwise, put Caleb out there.
  13. Watch, profit to the tune of $125 a pop, same diff.
  14. Caught a clip of Danny Parkins adamantly arguing with Bernstein that Derrick Rose will eventually be inducted into the NBA HOF. I truly don’t understand how anyone can possibly defend this take.
  15. Really nice to get some length from Kyle tonight ahead of the DH tomorrow. Only 73 pitches through six. I wonder how long they let him stay out there.
  16. There’s also this for those that don’t have a PS console: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-free-apple-tv-for-3-months-new-or-qualified-returning-subscribers-only/6484512.p?skuId=6484512
  17. Dainja, Rodgers, and Goode to varying degrees as well. Agreed in general, but it’s quite a bit more extreme this year, especially when you consider DGL, one of the two returnees, averaged just 7 mpg last year.
  18. 5 games is a lot to make up when you’re bad at hitting, defense, baserunning, bullpen-ing.
  19. Illini just landed 2025 5-star Canadian wing Will Riley, who will reclassify to 2024 and be on campus in a few weeks. Fun collection of talent Brad & co. Have reeled in. It’ll be interesting to see how the team gels with only two returning players.
  20. I actively hate this horsefeathers franchise
  21. I didn’t try that hard tbh. 3/28 - 4/16 1.073 OPS over 66 PAs, 27% strike out rate. 4/17 - 5/26 .570 OPS over 116 PAs, 40% strike out rate. 5/28 - 6/19 1.008 OPS over 56 PAs, 27% strike out rate
  22. I honestly don’t really see what they have to sell that would make them worse than they’ve already been. They can trade Robert, but he’s missed all but eight games so trading him doesn’t make the team *worse* than their season to date. There was a Rosenthal article yesterday that the Padres are interested in Crochet. He’s got 3.5 years left of control left, though, so I could see them preferring to hang onto him. Erick Fedde is their third and final trade asset of any consequence. It’s dire.
  23. It’s wild just how bad the White Sox are. On pace to go 40-122.
