  1. Im usually pretty realistic. I hated the 2007 team's chances in the playoffs, for example. I really, really like this team's chances in the playoffs though. The Dodgers just dont scare me no matter how many more games they win. Our big hurdle in my view is the Nats. Any time your big hurdle has Dusty Baker at the helm, you're sitting pretty. Shame we wont get 7 games to exploit that factor, though. Scherzer/Strasburg could demolish us before we get the chance. :( Oh, plus Harper might be done for the season after all which i would totally not root for ever cuz im classy.
  2. If thats not what their plan is, it should be.
  3. They should invent an award to give Javy. First ever Gold Glove Utility Player? Maybe just give Javy a giant gold glove award every year in recognition of the fact that he would have won the award at every position over the actual winner had he played enough innings there?
  4. as your host i must apologize, that inning was all my fault. I think we'll be OK though. Remember, the Phillies suck quite a bit.
  5. Error - walk - low leverage single Rizz up bases loaded no out
  6. How fitting that we almost made it to 20 on the day I start my first ever game thread. Lets get all the way to 20 this time. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/images/players/head_shot/407793.jpg 24 starts, 10-9 4.90 ERA. Wow what a stud. This unlikable but usually OK pitcher faces off against some bag of dicks I ain't ever heard of, so this should go good for us. Apparently his name is Nick Pivetta or something like that, and he looks like this: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/images/players/head_shot/601713.jpg 19 starts, 4-9 6.73 ERA. Wow what a turd he's gonna get smashed. But that picture might be confusing cuz he won't be smiling so much this game cuz he sucks and we don't. Here's our lineup. OK it actually does kinda suck a bit, but it'll be OK I promise cuz I'm undefeated all time. :flythew:
  7. Seriously. Missed opportunity imo Nice home run tho, seal boy.
  8. I fetched your lineups from twitter. Wow, arent I nice!
  9. Look on the bright side. The fact that our big SP acquisition sucks tonight doesnt really matter since our offense sucks tonight too.
  10. It really sounded like JD said "but lately the Reds bullpen has been sucking ass, too."
  11. Agreed. Dude's got an >.800 OPS with 20HRs and batting is his weak spot and he's pretty much the best at everything else baseball related. Lock him up with quickness.
  12. Man i had a nice post half typed out saying that i still trust schwarber for a good at bat even though hes been chasing more lately. Then i deleted it because Avila was the clear choice for Tiny Carrot's at bat. Awesome AB, schwarbs.
  13. I'd be intrigued to hear anybody try to disagree with this. You can't. Its not possible. Did something happen to Avila last night that could be a minor day to day injury? Thats the only way i can make sense if it.
  14. Yeeeep. Schwarber would be an acceptable option also.
  15. So Schwarber sits against EJax and starts against Bumgarner? Easily could have been something behind the scenes that held him out against Edwin, but on the surface thats...weird.
  16. I had to edit to make it more obvious when the brewers were on the road/home. And yeah, its 2 vs STL and 4 vs WAS. Looks weird with the month ending so i misread it, thanks.
  17. I got fatigued talking about this, but people are just going to have to accept the fact that the Brewers aren't going away. It's probably going to come down to those seven games we play against them in September. Theyre going away. Between 8/14 and 9/3 they have 3 vs Pit, 3 each at COL, SF, and LAD, 2 vs STL and 4 vs WAS. Meanwhile, we'll be having 3 each vs CIN and TOR, 3 each at CIN and PHI, 3 vs PIT AND 4 vs ATL. They will be 6-7 out when thats over and itll be September 3rd and they still wont be very good.
  18. They were just talking about this topic on mlb network. I had a random thought the other day about it and figured id share it. Keep in mind, my preference is to leave it as is. But, if I were to make a change for the sake of making a change, I'd much prefer the game to end with a home run derby. Play 12 innings, if it is tied each team picks 3 players, each get 10 pitches of BP fastballs, most home runs wins the game. Every pitcher gets a no decision. I dont love it, but i like it better than a tie or putting runners on base.
