  1. Bust.
  2. Morrison to Charlotte.
  3. Dunn's production isn't solely based on the long ball just because he's a power hitter with a low AVG. The prior discussion wasn't considering the costs to get them.
  4. Get more than they would by just taking their guy at 2 when they can have him at 4. If they are trading for Thomas though they'll regret it.
  5. Katz says the Bulls will trade the 2 for the 4, Khryapa, and future considerations. And they'll take Aldridge.
  6. good thinking Stuart, mentioning the crowd like that won't get a response. Just because you can't see them peripherally with a glass eye doesn't mean they aren't watching.
  7. What does average matter? Nothing. It does matter a little bit. A single is better than a walk. And both are better than an out. Dunn makes significantly fewer outs while hitting for the same power. He's better. That's what I said a few posts ago. Saying average doesn't matter at all though is foolish. A single is better than a walk. Average matters very little compared to OBP and SLG. Using it as a means to try to rip Dunn, which is what Neuby was doing, is foolish.
  8. If you are standing, sit down, because what I'm about to say may shock you. Vitale just went on a tirade defending college players over foreign players.
  9. What does average matter? Nothing. It does matter a little bit. A single is better than a walk. And both are better than an out. Dunn makes significantly fewer outs while hitting for the same power. He's better.
  10. Why does Carlos Lee scare you but Abreu doesn't? Abreu is 32 and CLee is 30. I don't see why one would scare you but the other wouldn't. Because Abreu is a much better player.
  11. Wow, Lee's all the way down to a .339 OBP. Regarding Lee v. Dunn, every season of Dunn's career except '03 is better than any season in Lee's career. He's also 4 years younger.
  12. Thome is the only one that even comes close to the quantity and quality of teh pr0FF3ss0r.
  13. Wait didn't Cedeno go 20+ games in a row until that error last night? Oh and in 47 games Neifi has 6 errors, while in 72 games Cedeno has 12. Neifi is not that much better than Cedeno. Are those 6 errors all at SS? Using errors is an awful way to judge defense. That said, Cedeno(.959 fielding pct) and Perez(.955) have been equal in that manner at SS.
  14. Do you really think someone as involved as Cuban would own three teams? Why would someone as involved as Cuban own two teams whose seasons are during the exact same timeframe? Either way though, the article never comes close to implying what the title says.
  15. That thread title is incredibly misleading. There's not a single mention of baseball in that article.
  16. I can't remember the last time a right handed hitter for the Cubs went oppo in Wrigley.
  17. I was a big proponent of getting Beltran, but when he signed I wasn't upset that Hendry didn't go that high. In hindsight I realize that if you are going to gamble on a big contract, a player like Beltran is exactly who it should be on.
  18. How about we stop talking about acquiring Izturis, he's just bad.
  19. Dusty realizes that splits exist, he just sticks to the L/R matchup. Well, except when it suits him(Jones).
  20. STOP OBSESSING ABOUT THE WHITE SOX
  21. My favorite is when he clears off the plate with the water bottle, mimics the catcher catching the ball and the umpire calling strike, then spikes the water bottle on the plate. Absolutely classic.
  22. I don't buy that. Neill slid well before Grosso even touched the ball sideways. Then he touched it and let himself fall over Neill, who again was there before he changed his dribble, instead of following the ball. There was another defender coming towards the side dribble, so it's not like he was alone with the keeper if he doesn't fall. Like USS said with regards to the US-Ghana PK, you're essentially saying he had a clear go at goal without the "foul". That's not true in this case, it was a bad call. All that said, in the brief replay I saw of the red card, that didn't look like a red. I could care less if Neill had been shot and was writhing on the ground in pain, the fact remains that Neill impeded the progress of Grosso. It's highly likely that Grosso would have had a decent chance at goal or could have passed to a teammate that had a decent shot at goal. Neill prevented that from happening. It doesn't matter in the least whether the foul was accidental or on purpose - the referee dealt with that by not handing out a card which he likely would have had Neill pulled him down - a foul occurred on the play. And please, don't use the US-Ghana PK as a corollary because absolutely no foul occured in that game. Sure, Grosso likely embellished the play a bit but there have been hundreds of more pathetic dives with less contact than this play in the World Cup this year. A foul, albeit not a bad one, occured on that play and the referee definately made the correct call. Grosso doesn't have the right to go anywhere on the field. Neill slid in front of him, beat him to the spot. Neill made it to the spot first, so Grosso is keeping himself from a decent chance at goal. If Grosso doesn't touch the ball in the other direction then there's no fuss at all. Just because he chose to run into the guy who was already at the spot instead of following his dribble doesn't earn him a PK, especially in the 93rd minute.
