  1. He was basically tied with Damon for 6th in CF OPS, he's in a similar spot this year with improved numbers. He hits a bunch of line drives and has good speed so he can maintain a high average, and he's improved his walks while keeping the same K rate and power production. He's also locked into a contract until free agency, which is a positive if acquired but is a hindrance to it happening.
  2. DeJesus. David DeJesus Thinking out loud here, with Dayton Moore looking to get a team to his liking, would he entertain a hefty package for his CF? Would it be worth it for us to try to woo him away? Would Marshall, Jones, Pie, and Guzman interest a guy like Moore, who falls more along the tools side of the spectrum? Is it worth it for us to give that package for DeJesus?
  3. Go Bucs plz don't get screwed by the refs in the playoffs again
  4. I always thought Caps stood for Career appearances, huh.
  5. Obviously, but it becomes a matter of resources. While Cedeno isn't going to remind anyone of Ernie Banks, he does have a place as a cost effective solution with potential for improvement. Sure we could go and trade for Tejada, but wouldn't it be better to focus those efforts towards a position where such an option isn't available in our system(aka corner OF)? Also, moving Cedeno to 2B wouldn't be a very good solution. His strengths(fielding) have less of an impact, and his weaknesses(offense) are at a position where more is expected of that trait.
  6. And will he play for the US? Screw Ghana. He is a US citizen is he not? He hasn't been forced to choose yet, although I don't see why he wouldn't choose the US. It's not like he was born and raised in Ghana and just came over here to play soccer. He was on PTI a couple weeks ago, and seemed honestly undecided. I saw that, but that was a bit of a loaded question, if he had to make a decision at that moment, and to play against the other IIRC.

  8. Keep in mind that it's pretty new(The help section isn't even up yet), but the features look pretty sweet. I'll try to play around with it some this week, get a better feel for it.
  9. Madison New York Chicago Hmmmm...
  10. I'm beginning to think there's a possibility that Wuertz might be able to get guys out at AAA. Maybe. He's nearly at 15 K/9.
  11. During today's game they said the average age for the 2 teams was 29, at least I think they were talking about the 2 teams. Keeping that in mind, I don't think it would be too much to expect 'Dolo and Boca to still be useful.
  12. Cut for Cap Space selects Willie Parker, RB, Pittsburgh
  13. Raisin was a band geek, not a math nerd.
  14. Yeah, I've been gone for the weekend and am racking my brain over the pick. It'll be made shortly.
  15. Yep. Also, Jim Breuer's AC/DC impression impacted my vote.
  16. I found this site and it looks pretty sweet. Figured I'd pass it along in case we decide Yahoo doesn't work out or we want something that can carry over year to year. It's free but requires registration.
  17. Wait, what? I thought he signed like 2 months ago.
  18. You and many others have made similar accusations about me in the past. But the fact is I've been right. I know ineptitude when I see it. I'm not just look at worst case scenario. Take Ryan Harvey for instance. His entire career path has bordered on worst case scenario so far. At some point, you have to narrow the range between worst case and best case, and come up with a realistic case that fits the bill. Almost every one of these guys has disappointed immensely. No position player has shot up the rankings. None of them are flirting with best of the best status around the league. None of them are doing anything special. The excuse that all prospects are a big gamble doesn't hold any water. We aren't talking about the Cubs having the same woes as everybody else. For one, they have more resources than most other organizations. But they've been pretty much THE worst organization at developing position players for nearly 2 decades. That's not run-of-the-mill bad luck with prospects. That's a pretty clear indictment of their ability to draft, sign and develop position players. You don't have to have a negative bias against the Cubs to have a very negative view against their position playing prospects. You were being excessively negative. A couple have futures as bench players, with maybe some becoming okay major leaguers elsewhere? That's hyperbole and you know it.
  19. I didn't realize Johnson was a buddhist.
  20. Was it a good pitch? It's pretty sound philosophy to look to hammer the first pitch with the bases loaded, even with the previous hitter walking. On the general topic of Cedeno, the most important number to consider with him is 23. You put him at the bottom of the lineup for defense and cost effectiveness. If he doesn't show any signs of life offensively before he starts costing real money, then you look for a replacement(or sooner if you're able to fill other holes first). Otherwise, just leave him there and let him get AB's in the 8 slot.
  21. I was really hoping for another Baggio to emerge. Sucks for Trezeguet that he had the only missed PK by less than an inch.
