  1. Soriano is not very good. He wasn't going to be even close to the contract he was projected to get, and this 8/135 rumor is Hamptonian. It's like giving Mark DeRosa 5/60.
  2. Nearly 17 million for 8 years to someone who has put up a .340 OBP once in his career. Hopefully this is like Rosenthal's "Ramirez to test Free Agency" scoop.
  3. My first kU football game, and it's blackout too. Too bad Mizzou's second half slide took away a lot of meaning, but it should still be a pretty raucous atmosphere.
  4. By my count I have 1 point thus far. One.
  5. Well, ND drops again-this time it is again unbelievable. Arkansas was not impressive against Miss State, and because of that game they move past ND? That's typical of how it's been this season (I did look it up-Arkansas was behind ND in the coaches poll last week). It's only 17 points. Previous week aside, who do you think deserves to be ranked higher between the two? If it's Arkansas, then why does it matter?
  6. Many people's hatred towards Alou is irrational, just like some Cards/Dodgers fans towards Drew. That said, I think Alou's baserunning adventures and old fogeyness are a little more tangible than Drew "not looking like he cares".
  7. In that case: Fiesta Bowl - Oklahoma (Big 12) vs. Boise State (at large) Rose Bowl - USC (Pac-10) vs. Florida (at large) Sugar Bowl - ND (at large) vs. Arkansas (SEC) Orange Bowl - Georgia Tech (ACC) vs. Louisville (Big East) National title game - OSU (Big 10) vs. Michigan (at large) - The Big 10 and Pac-10 champs are contracted with the Rose Bowl, the Big 12 champs with the Fiesta, the SEC with the Sugar, and the ACC with the Orange. The first pick of the other eligible teams goes to whatever bowl(s) lose their contracted teams to the title game, then it goes Sugar/Orange/Fiesta. - The Rose Bowl will get the first pick since they lost OSU to the title game, but they won't want a USC/ND rematch, so they'll take Florida. - Then the Sugar Bowl picks, and they'll take ND. - Then the Orange, who will take Louisville. - Then the Fiesta will be stuck with Boise State. It's going to be hard for Oklahoma to win the Big 12 considering the Championship game is Texas-Nebraska. Not yet. If OU beats Oklahoma State and aTm beats Texas, OU wins the South.
  8. And the Cavs got their doors blown off. :(
  9. Because of their resumes, they don't belong in the discussion.
  10. Not exactly. If WVU wins out, their only loss will be to Louisville on the road. They'll have a legitimate case. As would Louisville for that matter. A legitimate case for what? :-k The National Title game. WVU over a school like Michigan, USC, or ND for the national title game? They wouldn't even be in the discussion. They lost a close game, on the road, to another very good opponent in Louisville. They should most definitely be in the discussion. I know Cuse has said it but I'm going to repeat it: the complete underestimation and disrespect for the Big East by some people is insane. Not quite as insane as saying West Virginia's resume compares with Michigan, USC/ND, or Florida/Arkansas. Now you're trying to put words in my mouth. No I'm not. You said they "should definitely be in the discussion". That's wrong, they don't compare with Michigan, or the winner of USC/ND, or the winner of Florida/Arkansas. It's not particularly close either.

  12. ahahahahahahahahaha
  13. haha, extra point shenanigans are great
  14. The Book disagrees The Book on The Book? I don't remember that part... I think he means Tangotiger's The Book.
  15. Gonzalez isn't an above average defender. I can only assume you are trying to be funny. Nope. Look at BP or PMR (2005 only, but PBP based so much more accurate) for verification. I wish I had brought my copy of The Fielding Bible home, anyone know what it says about Gonzalez?
  16. Before the OSU/UM game I agreed with you. Quinn's stats are still better. More yards, more TD's, same # of INT's and Smith doesn't have the benefit of a bunch of rushing yards and TD's like he did last year. Quinn's been the better QB this year. And I'm not exactly one to hand out compliments to ND or their players very often. It's not a stats race---never has been. Quinn had a prime shot to show he was the Heisman favorite against Michigan in his own building, and they got slaughtered. Quinn looked overmatched at times. Smith has faced down two #2 challengers and looked real good against both of them. Smith is the clear Heisman winner IMO. I doubt the voting will be particularly close. Smith had 2 good games and a bunch of eh/crap games. Quinn had one bad game and a bunch of solid/good games. Do you know how many games Smith has been held under 200 yards passing? 6. Quinn? 0. Want to talk about who is more important to his team? It's Quinn and it's not even close. Quinn has to play well because ND's defense isn't that good. OSU has one of the top defenses in the nation. Coming into today, Notre Dame's defense has allowed 67.5 more ypg than OSU. Offensively, OSU has a far better running game than ND and is averaging 65.5 more rushing ypg than ND. Ohio State has a better team than ND and Smith doesn't have to do as much to keep his team in the game. Quinn is a better player, has better stats, and is more important to his team than Quinn is. To me, that means the Heisman winner should be from South Bend. And, as with many of my Brady Quinn posts, and to annoy ndistops, I have one more thing to say. Quinn is going to look good in Silver and Black next year. Strength. of. Schedule. Which in every SOS ranking (in all the computers for example) favors Notre Dame-so your point is what? Then replace "schedule" with "defenses faced".
  17. No, no we couldn't. I disagree. I think we could. What happened to Rich Hill? Tragic chainsaw juggling accident.

  19. Again?? I don't know what happened the first time, but it was real short and the returner and the jammer collided. The jammer thought he needed to cover it up, but missed it(probably because he just collided with the returner), and it hit his foot and bounced to a host of Rutgers players. Rutgers only gets a field goal though, 17-3.
  20. Cincinnati screws up the punt return, Rutgers gets it back at the Cincy 25
  21. Gonzalez isn't an above average defender. I'm confused - this is the Red Sox Alex Gonzalez who should have won the gold glove right? And you don't think he is even above average?? Yes, the Red Sox Alex Gonzalez, formerly of the Marlins.
  22. hahaha, defensive TD Cincinnati, 17-0
  23. Where the heck is McGuire?
  24. If they pull that off it may be the best day of college football ever for Southern Ohio.
