  1. There's a lot of evidence to show that he was bad last year largely in part to how infrequently Dusty would use him due to the team being so bad. When he was used on an even somewhat regular basis, he did pretty well. His bad periods typically came after Dusty sat him at least 3 games or more. Not that I'm disputing what you're saying, but what evidence would that be? I'd genuinely like to know. It's hard to tell because ESPN doesn't have the info for 2005(well, compiled that is, I'm not about to go diving through game logs right now), but Dempster was awful on 3+ days of rest last year, and he threw almost 1/3 of his innings in that situation. With more regular usage those gaps between outings wouldn't happen. Of course, last year Dempster was also awful on 0 days rest, so take it FWIW.
  2. Fun spring time poll, or rigged poll? Their laissez faire attitude toward corruption in a media source is irresponsible and frankly a little bit disturbing. The reply doesn't even make sense either.
  3. Seriously. And I know of two Chiefs fans on this board, one of them should step up. TT took the Chiefs, and I've volunteered to double up and take the Bills...all we need is someone to take Cinci. If one of those Chiefs fans wants them they can have it, btw. Just say the word, otherwise I'll do it.
  4. I love listening to Wynalda, partially because he gets so irrationally angry at opponents and officials.
  5. I'll take the Chiefs, I'll just consult some Chiefs fans when my pick comes.
  6. Why is it that seemingly half the teams in CONCACAF are potshot artists like this? Which country was it that spent our last qualifier trying to take out our players the entire time?
  7. I'm disappointed the article didn't say their names, I'm hoping one of them is Tiffany backwards or something.
  8. I like it. My concerns would be that you're pretty light on steals, and there's not really much flexibility. Everyone's second position is 1B(Kendrick, Guillen, Sheffield, Dunn, Gordon), and Hafner can't even play there.
  9. I'm not sure if you're kidding but Murton has better than average speed. True, but I heard Lee worked his legs so long waiting for his wrist to heal that he beat Pierre in a footrace by the end of his rehab.
  10. Only one person is throwing more than one reliever per week, and Putz is just as good a bet as half the guys they're throwing to pick up saves. Besides, there just wasn't any value using a pick on BJ Ryan or somebody when guys like Ben Sheets were on the board. Putz is having an elbow problem right now. Might want to consider picking up another closer. He's gonna be back for opening day. Failing at that, these guys left Chris Ray, Brian Fuentes, Joe Borowski, and Todd Jones on the wire. Pick up Ray, do it quickly. Why? Putz had better k/9, bb/9, and hr/9 ratios. Not only that, but PECOTA has Putz pegged for a 3.35 ERA next year, whereas Ray is pegged at 3.99. I'll take my chances in the first few weeks of the season with Putz, cause the rest of it shouldn't be a contest. Because Putz has never had that type of success before. To me it smells of Joe Borowski part deux.
  11. Oh geez, this inspired me to look at the 2005 draft. We took Pawelek 5 picks before Matt Garza.
  12. I'm not sure whether to laugh at him or feel sorry for him. He must rue the day he first came into contact with Scott Boras. Wasn't Boras the second agent that led him astray? yes, ithe real culprit was a guy who's initials are T.T., i believe. I can't think of his name. Tony Tanzer? Something like that. Uncalled for.
  13. That was the Barrett grand slam game. In fairness to Wuertz, he came in with the bases loaded and one out. He struck out Encarnacion gave up a seeing-eye GB single to Pujols that scored two runs, and an infield single to SS before getting yet another groundball to end the inning. I can't speak to his other appearances. I still can't believe Pujols got a single on that. It was pretty much a perfect slider outside and he got Albert to roll over on it. Ah, the days when I cared about the '06 Cubs.

  15. Hansbrough will be worse than McRoberts. i agree I dunno. I think Hansbrough's motor alone guarantees him a Anderson Varejao style role, and he's obviously a better finisher/foul shooter than Varejao. He's also smaller, but I think he has a lengthy NBA career, even if he doesn't ever validate his draft spot. I can't say the same about McRoberts. He won't be able to go past anyone, he can't really step out on the deeper perimeter, and he's not big/strong enough to be a force underneath.
  16. This is all kinds of bad news. Wuertz is the best reliever on the team, and we don't need Pagan taking up space on the roster so he can be worse in LF than Murton in the late innings.
  17. Yes, he's taken to the more patient approach that Lou and Perry are emphasizing. The thing that excites me is that he doesn't have to go nuts to be pretty valuable to the team like Murton. All he has to do is not suck offensively and he's better than Izturis.
  18. I think there's a distinction. UK posting a picture of the Horny wagon doesn't mean he wants Bellhorn for 2B. In this thread most of the people were being facetious or concluded they didn't want him.
  19. For me it was 11th in my 14-team league(pick 141), 12th in my 12-team league(pick 142).
  20. FWIW, he was significantly better each of his first two years. 2005: .366/.470/.581/1.051 2006: .355/.480/.606/1.086
  21. This is dated(2002-2005), but it doesn't appear to have much of one at all. Link
  22. I have him in both of mine.
  23. I'm gonna go with one post before you rip on him. I don't think its "ripping" at all. Look at the numbers they haven't been very good. I loved what he did for the Cubs, but that was obviously a bit of a fluke year. Everytime Bellhorn's name is brought up you take it upon yourself to try to be a killjoy(even though no one really wants him on the team anymore), and started a thread about it this time. I don't really care, we all have our favorites and anti-favorites, I just found it funny how it was pretty apparent you started the thread so you could point out how terrible he is.
