  1. Why to load the West even more? Yes.
  2. It'd be nice if Oden and Durant were both in the West....
  3. Time for the Bill Simmons suicide watch.
  4. I thought that was the same guy. He was like a can't miss. I think he was drafted third or something like that. He only got like 24 PAs in the the bigs in 2004 and now he's in AA. What gives? .738 and .640 OPS at AAA in the 2 years after his MLB cup of coffee did him in.
  5. Stern looks like an oompa-loompa. He also sounds like an idiot for trying to justify the suspensions instead of talking about the rule theoretically like it was asked.
  6. Difference between you hitting a double and a home run = not dependent on your teammates at all Difference between you hitting a double that gives you an RBI/you get a run after the double, and not getting the RBI/run on the double = ENTIRELY dependent on your teammates difference between you hitting a double and a homer is, in part, due to the pitch being thrown/called, which is, in part, effected by who is no-deck, who (if anyone is on base), what the score is, when in the game it is, whether the wind is blowing in or out.... Clearly, there are way too many variables to decide. MLB needs to make a couple 400-sided die with every player's name on it and whoever's name comes up wins the MVP for that league.

  8. Without a doubt. The MVP has nothing to do with your teammates. then they should rename it Player of the Year and take the word "valuable" out of it The "Player of the Year" contributes the most "value". I don't see what's so hard about this. i think valuable can be interepreted too many ways (as we've seen in this thread) Then why say they should remove the word?

  10. I'm actually a big fan of trading Murton for a SP, as part of a sequence of moves. Trading Murton for a middle reliever means I'll be a little more sad every time we make fun of Krivsky.
  11. Sigh, Marshall :( Well, now it's time to hope for a miracle.
  12. Alright Cox, we get it. Long funny list, get some new material. He wasn't done, he hadn't even gotten to Hugh Jackman yet.
  13. The Pistons game plan against LeBron appears to be to double team him, and have one player challenge the shot while the other tries to break his arm.
  14. On the whole he's been solid, but he's been rocked twice in 4 starts this month(most recently in his last start), and he's starting to approach an IP threshold that he hasn't reached since College/HS, if ever. And like previous posts illustrated, the Cardinals have had good luck, not bad luck. They have the worst pythagorean record in baseball.
  15. The key word there is simple. You are judging the two based on how their teammates have played around them, as opposed to how they have done themselves. Exactly. It's a near 70 point difference in OPS, and was even more with the numbers used in the poll. Hardy's not even on the same plane. Bonds is a step above everybody, but he's on pace to have about 100 less PA's, so that's why I didn't go with him.
  16. how about 15 more RBI than the closest guy on the list, and he's played a large part in the Brewers' hot start RBIs? I thought we were better than that. Jones' production blows Hardy away right now and their two teams are a game apart W-L wise
  17. I don't understand how Hardy is running away with this. Can someone explain why he's been better than Jones, or Lee, or Bonds, or Ramirez? Even Reyes' stolen bases puts him right there with Hardy.
  18. Dempster just said on Comcast that he will be made starter. Stellar.
  19. Floyd went around, West didn't need to ask for help. And why is it disgraceful that he tossed Floyd? He followed Floyd back to the dugout, then tossed him. Floyd was complaining and yelling the whole time and probably had some choice words for West. And West didn't follow him all the way back to the dugout. West made the right call. Floyd complained. Floyd got tossed. Plain and simple. Which game are you watching? He followed him back to the dugout. Plain and simple. Like I said: West made the right call, Floyd complained, Floyd got tossed. It's not rocket science. He followed him part way because Floyd was complaining. Floyd had no business arguing that call. Of course he did, West didn't ask for help. Floyd was done saying his piece and then West ran him down and tossed him. Completely bush league by West, which is fitting because he was terrible today.
  20. Floyd went around, West didn't need to ask for help. And why is it disgraceful that he tossed Floyd? Floyd's shoulder had rotated, he couldn't see. And he chased Floyd down and ejected him after he went to the dugout, when he's not going to be back. Pure ego.
  21. What a joke by West to not ask for help. And now he tosses Floyd, disgraceful.
  22. This game is on Z. True, but I don't think Z would've given up 4 additional runs. If he does his job with 2 outs its still a 3-2 game. When I saw Thome PHing(even more so when I realized Erstad was next) I thought this might be a good time to end Z's day at 100whatever pitches and let Ohman finish the inning.
