  1. When he shows his hot start wasn't a fluke. He's fallen off a good bit since then, especially with his peripherals. His 30/26 K/BB in his last 59+ innings is troubling.
  2. I think you could consider Infante legitimate, if Izturis is legitimate than Infante has to be.
  3. Hard to win 3 of 4 when it's only a 3 game series. They start playing the Giants on Monday.
  4. He's in the last year of his contract and I'm assuming the Cubs would pick some of the remaining money up, so he would be a fairly cheap "solution" to anyone desperately needing middle infield help. That's desparation at its finest. The Orioles are playing Brandon Fahey at SS, they are desperation defined.
  5. IIRC, he is out of options? He'd be DFA'ed, and since he knows he won't get a job elsewhere putting up a .400 OPS or whatever it is, accept the outright to Iowa. If he's crazy enough to opt for free agency, oh well.
  6. See above. Someone put up The Bruce Signal. You and your fancy edits, then quoting me before my edit. My fist pump has changed to a fist shake at you, sir! Thanks for the info.
  7. Cristiano Ronaldo says hi. Messi's great, but Ronaldo is better than anyone running around on a field anywhere. Running being the key word there, because Ronaldo doesn't realize he has teammates half the time. Oooo, I don't know about that. I think he gets a bad rap because he's a very flashy player, but he's extremely creative, and usually finds teamates in good positions to finish. I think part of the probl;em is that his teamates aren'tr eady for some of the balls he gives them. Sometimes he screws himself up trying to dribble thru traffic, but half the time he does that something good happens. I can't think of a more talented player in nearly every phase of the game than Cristiano. Maybe Kaka, but Kaka doesn't have the pace of Ronaldo. He's so, so, so good. I was kidding mostly. I don't get to see a ton of international soccer, but I've probably seen Ronaldo as much as any foreign player between Man U and the World Cup, and it seems several times a game he tries to dribble through about 18 defenders over a 50 yard span. Impressive that it takes him so long to get dispossessed, but futile nonetheless.

  9. Normally it pisses me off when players do that on a PK, but for Sanchez I make an exception.
  10. Who else should be #1? Gallagher, quite easily
  11. The Cubs are getting this line out of RF: .284/.354/.355 Griffey provides a tremendous improvement over that. Floyd has been better than that overall, but he's already been banged up in multiple body parts and can't be counted on for much. DeRosa's RF numbers are better than his overall numbers, but counting on that fluke would be absurd. Griffey in RF for 80-90% of the remaining games, with DeRosa subbing in here and there would provide far greater production than what they are getting, both in terms of OBP and SLG. It's not ideal. But so freaking what. Unless the Cubs get ARod for short, Posada for catcher or Ichiro for center, they aren't getting the ideal replacement anywhere else. Might as well do what they can to improve where possible. As long as they aren't giving up the farm for that improvement I'm all for it. If they want to give up the farm for Cabrera to play right, then I'd be fine with it. Again, I'm fine with adding Griffey, I know he'd help us out. My point is that dealing Marshall(and Pie on top of that) just changes what the problem is(that I addressed in the part of my post you cut out). Also, if we're going to talk about Floyd being hurt or DeRosa's performance being fluky, then Griffey's injury history has to be at least as big a red flag, especially with the proposed talent we'd be giving up.
  12. power and OBP. As for adding Marshall, I guess the question is whether you think he's likely to maintain his current pace. As a guy with his own injury history and no real record of prolonged dominance at any level, perhaps his value is at its highest right now. Is he really irreplacable for the Cubs? I don't think so. I guess you could call it opening a hole, but I think there are a could guys that could step in and provide similar effectiveness. Probably not the same level of performance that Marshall has been at year-to-date, but the level of performance we might be getting from him going forward. Griffey's getting on base a bit more often than Floyd/DeRosa, but not significantly so. Admittedly Griffey had a higher OBP than I thought. As for Marshall, I don't see anyone who could come in and replace what he will potentially give. Guzman and Mateo aren't healthy and have questions about effectiveness even if they are. Gallagher has about 10 AAA innings and has gotten rocked in his brief MLB time. Veal is struggling at AA, Atkins isn't far enough along yet, and no one wants to see Walrond or Wade Miller again. I don't mind the idea of selling high with Marshall, but who do you think steps in and produces as well as Marshall will produce in the second half?
  13. Why would we create a hole in the rotation to acquire a guy who is on the downside of his career, has a staggering injury history, is getting paid a crapload of money, and is confined to the corner OF? Don't get me wrong, Griffey would be a smart addition to the roster, but by dealing Marshall for him you're just changing what your problem is. It's not worth it to create a need for another starter when you're only upgrading the power from RF(especially with all the other negative circumstances around Griffey).
  14. Crimeny, do you really think he was actually demanding that never be posted again? Has no one heard of the phrase "Get out of here"?
  15. more foolish than to believe the guy on your team is one of the rare exceptions to the rule? What do you mean "believe"? He's putting up the two best seasons of his career at 30-31. It's not like people are thinking/hoping that he might do this, it's happening/happened.
  16. Argentina up 3-0 now, Mexico is getting outclassed(a difficult thing to do, I know).
  17. hahahaha, Bradley mouthing two-one and showing it with his fingers at somebody.
  18. Definitely a flop, but he was still holding his ear even after full time was announced, so he must've gotten whacked decently.
  19. Tevez with an amazing redirect of a free kick to put Argentina up 1-0.
  20. Do you keep meaning to say Uruguay? "Hah, marry me!" Yes, Uruguay.
