  1. True; I'd mentioned in an earlier post in this thread that I thought they might transfer Blanco to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man. Of course, if an Izturis trade is completed before game time, that might make room on the 40-man (depending on what the Cubs get back in return). If there's any fire behind this Izturis smoke, then they may just DFA him even if a trade has not been completed (as with Bowen). Very good point, but there's a difference I believe. Bowen wasn't the point of that trade, it was to acquire Kendall, so to speak. The point of this proposed deal would appear to be to trade away Izturis. If you DFA him then I'd think the chances of that type of deal happening would go down.
  2. Yeah, Murton's call-up will occur when they are ready to give him steady playing time. They are looking for a short-term fix here, and a guy like Fox, with his 1B experience, better fits the bill. Plus why use up Murt's options when you know he is headed back down soon? There's no option issue. Options are counted in years, not call-ups. Since they've already demoted him it makes no difference how much they shuttle him between Iowa and Chicago.
  3. No. It's not so much that all those guys are super valuable(except Gallagher, who's the best pitching prospect in the system), but including ALL of them at once is a bit much. Fair enough - that is why I asked. OK, so what about Gallagher and Soto? Does that get it done? Reds want more? Considering it's Krivsky, but at the same time other teams are interested in Dunn, I'd start at something like Veal + Petrick with a window to get an extension for Dunn, and work from there.
  4. If they can't be contacted, I vote we find their replacements. Yeah, I think we have to consider this. How long do we give them? And who would we ask to take their teams?
  5. The Brewers face the D'Backs 4 times in a row and they miss Webb. Unbelievable.
  6. Oh how I love Atkins/Hernandez day.

  8. Did I say Weeks is destined to be an all star? At age 22, Weeks posted a 1090 OPS in the PCL. At age 24, Patterson has an .826 OPS in the PCL. Think about that. Weeks was there for 200 ABs. He also is the proud owner of a .773 OPS in a full season of AA. He went BABIP-crazy last year(.359 BABIP, 20% LD) for his only success(a whopping .766 OPS) in 1100 MLB plate appearances. What looks like the fluke out of his time in the upper minors and MLB?
  9. Patterson has the upside of a middle infielder while Weeks is destined to be an All-Star with pop? If you say so.
  10. You are somehow wrong on both sides. Dunn is about a billion times more valuable than you're giving him credit for. Murton, EPatt, Wuertz >> Weeks, Gwynn, Wise. And if we were able to get him for an equivalency of Weeks, Gwynn, Wise(think EPatt, Pagan, Petrick) we should fall over ourselves to do it. You overrate you're own prospects. I wouldn't deal Weeks by himself for those 3 guys. You're overrating Weeks by quite a bit.
  11. How exactly do you go about replacing Hill? He's a top 20-40 starter in the game under team control for the forseeable future.

  13. Phillips has been fine for them at 2nd, they have Freel and Hamilton in CF, and...well I guess there's always Krivsky's reliever fetish. But still, I don't think a deal like that would go down.
  14. As of 10:30 Central this link was still showung 7-17 results. Yeah, it's not meant to be live updating. More like something for tomorrow morning.
  15. Psh. You are the St. Louis Cardinals of this league. I whipped your ass all year long, then in the playoffs you suddenly turned golden :p Not my fault your team wasn't clutch.
  16. How about a HUSTLING tapper to first instead.
  17. Mench just made a divot in the outfield trying to stop, Byrnes gets an easy double.
  18. Doug Davis picked off Ryan Braun earlier in the game, and I think the only way he would've gotten called for a balk is if he started his motion and then didn't throw it anywhere. LHP get away with murder on pickoff attempts. 0-0 with Hudson leading off the forth, and he flies to left. Arizona is making Capuano look like an All-Star.
  19. Anze wins the thread.
  20. With that the Cubs move percentage points in front of the Braves for 2nd place in the Wild Card, we're 2.5 GB of San Diego with Maddux-Maine at Petco tonight.
  21. Take it easy Frandsen, you're down 11 runs, no need for anyone to get hurt.
