Reasons this is a bad idea or it won't work: Ricciardi probably won't be entertaining offers for Rios, no need to. If he did trade him the fanbase would not be pleased with him. Related to that idea, Ricciardi is not going to trade Rios without a headline player coming back. Sean Marshall is not a good enough player or a big enough name for that. Soriano is probably not going back to CF. The difference between Floyd and Rios is not so much greater than the difference between Marshall and Mateo/Gallagher that we need to include Pie, Cedeno, Veal, and Soto. Making a deal like that pretty much puts all your eggs in one basket. Rios better work out, because you just dealt the vast majority of your near major league ready commodities(Gallagher and Murton are the only one's left, and you have to use them to plug the holes you made by dealing Marshall and Pie EDIT: I guess EPatt is there too). Talent wise a deal of that nature may be worth it, but practically speaking it's a terrible idea. Dealing Pie and Marshall and Cedeno and Soto and Veal for a single outfielder kills your flexibility to go cheap at positions, or to trade for upgrades elsewhere.
