  1. I didn't know they made Joe Dillon a pitcher.
  2. What's his numbers if you take out balls that OFs should have caught had they taken better routes to the ball? Better.
  3. Enormous sigs are irritating enough, you don't think it's going to irritate people when he adds a sig(after yesterday's game) that's a huge pic of Braun?
  4. To repeat what others have said, Wood is fine. Even after yesterday, his WHIP sits at 0.929, he has a stellar 4.33 K/BB ratio(a still fine 2.17 including HBP), he has a great 0.64 HR/9. He's pitching fine. And for anyone worried that despite the peripherals he's still costing us wins, yesterday was the first blown save of his that we eventually lost. Wood is not the problem, or even close really. The real concern for the pitching rotation is Lilly, Marquis, and Hill and all the baserunners they're giving up.
  5. Strike 2 was in the same location but a bit higher Wow, I turned it on just in time to see strike 3. At least it seems Z is getting that same obscene corner.
  6. That wasn't an illusion, strike 3 to Soto was a solid foot outside, and it tailed towards the plate to get that close. There's a reason Soto stood there for a minute.
  7. Wow, my brain is broken. I meant Cotts.
  8. Ascanio and Ohman for Marshall and Hart
  9. Not sure. When the ground ball puts a fielder and the baserunner hitting the same spot at the same time, whose responsibility is it to avoid a collision? The runner is entitled to the basepaths. Weeks was RIGHT ON the basepath when he fielded that ball. It's his fault and he's lucky he didn't get called for interference. I brought that up the other day during a game and apparently if you're making a play on the ball you cannot be called for interference. Exactly, Pie can get called for interference for not getting out of Weeks' way. The fielder has the right to be anywhere if he's trying to field the ball.
  10. Good outing from Chen. Nice to see Donaldson with an XBH and a walk too.
  11. If anything, Greene is better when you consider ballpark. Young's never done anything away from Arlington.
  12. You aren't really going to use this year's numbers to tell if a player's good or not, are you? I thought you were better than that. But I guess if you want to play that game, I have a question for you. There's another SS putting up these numbers: .152/.226/.238 Do you think it would be dumb to trade for him? Well if so, you just turned down a trade for Troy Tulowitzki, wtg dude. Tulowitzki as a rookie put up superior production to anything Greene's ever done. And he's not hitting FA next year asking for 8 figures per year. Tulowitzki plays in Coors 81 times, he hit .256/.327/.393/.719 away from home. home games don't count anymore? i guess i havent been keeping up with all these rule changes. damn that bud selig. Context matters if you're going to say "Tulowitzki put up superior production to anything Greene's ever done". And the insinuation that Greene can simply bump his average significantly by "playing to the park" or something like that is absurd. Petco has been in the bottom five ballparks for hits for the last 5 years. This isn't some phenomenon that's exclusive to Greene. Dave Roberts hit .233 there in 2005, and he's the prototypical slap the ball guy.

  14. It's like he was entering his prime or something.
  15. Finally got to an agreement. Sherrill, Chipper, and Victorino for Braun, Granderson, and Cueto
  16. You know who would make a good platoon partner for Johnson? Josh Kroeger. It certainly wouldn't be super defensively, but with Wrigley's shallow alleys and plus defenders on either side, the offense would be worth it.
  17. Can someone recap what exactly Horford did?
  18. 1st pitch is 7:05 Pacific, it doesn't start for nearly another hour.
  19. Thats not that terrible of a trade offer. Chipper is insanely om fire (reminds you of someone from last year...) but is already hurting this early in the season. Maybe if the third basemen were reversed, but why would I sell high on Chipper only to get another 3B that I'm buying low on? And I add the closer? Anyway, this guy is obsessed with trying to get Sherrill, the current counter proposal after several back and forths is Sherrill for Braun. Cross your fingers. No offense, but that trade proposal belongs in this thread about eighty bagillion times more than the original one you posted. Good luck though! Oh no doubt, I figure it's worth a shot for a guy this focused on getting Sherrill when he already has Pap, Jenks, and Lyon.

  21. After seeing this I had to go find the quote, hilarious. How crazy of LeBron to think they're after him when they say so, then shove him and jack him in the head while he's in midair. I really hope the Cavs step on their throats in Game 5, preferably with LeBron scoring about 65.
  22. I was just offered the privilege of acquiring Ryan Braun, at the low, low cost of Chipper Jones and George Sherrill. I also have Evan Longoria.
  23. Went ahead and moved this to Cubs discussions.
