  1. The Brewers are 6 games behind the Cubs. Cubs were 8.5 behind the Brewers last June. It's a good thing that the Brewers rotation is held together by bits of string then. So is the Cardinals, but it doesn't seem to stop them. You're not even making sense with your incessant devil's advocacy anymore. The Brewers aren't getting fluky performances, that's why they're at the bottom of the division right now. If Sheets doesn't hold up the entire year, they may finish 4th or 5th.

  3. Eyre is fine for the 8th, just leave him in though(unless he gets into trouble). The RH hitters due up are not good enough to warrant using Howry. And it's going to happen anyway, dumb
  4. Ascanio only threw 13 pitches, let him start the 8th and bring in Eyre for the PH and McLouth if he gets into trouble
  5. In a way in that they're not really like each other at all. I was referring as to how the organization is treating them and not letting them get consistant playing time. I'm not sure how you got that I thought Pie was similar to Gwynn out of that post. Really? You made an analogy where they were equivalent. Gwynn is a 5th outfielder at best, he has a minor league OPS under .700 and he wasn't young for his levels. It's borderline that he's a major league player, which is why it doesn't equate to the Pie situation. EDIT: Gwynn better than Mike Cameron? Not unless Gwynn gets to hit off a tee.
  6. Ya know... it's really starting to sound like you guys want the CUBS to lose. Yeah, this thread is an embarrassment.
  7. Okay, just stop throwing your curveball to anybody, it's not a good pitch today
  8. What on earth possessed you to swing at that, Reed? Maholm's at 48 pitches
  9. The Indians are kinda stuck in limbo, especially if they're dealing Westbrook. They have a lot of youth and some depth with position player prospects, so taking back less than impact players in return would be viewed as giving up on those guys, and creating redundancy with marginal players. On the other hand, teams trading for Westbrook probably will probably want to give up quantity rather than quality, or at least potential over production(that hypothetical team is trying to make the playoffs after all), making it hard to find a match for Westbrook.
  10. Did Johnson fall down, he can't be that slow, I could've made that a closer play
  11. Did that hit the top of the wall then glance off some dude into the air and back onto the field?
  12. Mizzou choked away their shot at a B12 tourney title. 2 outs away from clinching a spot in the title game, they blow the lead and the game against OU, then lose their third pool play game for good measure. Hopefully they still host a regional.
  13. Vazquez and Lilly were pretty much the same pitcher last year, how can you say one was "bar none" better than the other? As far as Buehrle goes, he's had one above average "half season" (first half of '07) since 2005, that's looking more and more like an aberration with his subpar '06, second half '07, and now this year.
  14. Joba's brief minor league record is just as otherworldly as his numbers as a relief pitcher, while Marmol was merely "pretty great" as a minor league starter. However, if you look at how Marmol finished his minor league years as a starter(2006-2007), it's closer. Joba (40 IP at A+, 40.1 at AA, 8 at AAA) 88.1 IP, 1.01 WHIP, 13.76 K/9, 2.75 BB/9, 5.00 K/BB, 0.41 HR/9 Marmol(58 IP at AA, 44 at AAA) 112 IP, 1.01 WHIP, 9.32 K/9, 3.05 BB/9, 3.05 K/BB, 0.40 HR/9 The strikeout and walk numbers are better for Joba, but on the other hand half of those innings were against High A competition, so it's probably closer to a wash than it appears.
  15. How good can those guys possibly be, 60% of them can't even spell their first names correctly.
  16. Colvin's last 10 games (43 PA's): .286/.419/.514, 8/5 BB/K
  17. Vitters had experience against top end competition, he was one of the best hitters at one of the showcases that had some of the best talent in the country. If memory serves it was wood bat too.
  18. I watched Beasley play a bunch of times, including twice against my school, where I saw different players walking about campus for comparison. His height is legit.
  19. You forgot Hinrich in 2003, Gordon and Livingston in 2004, and Felton in 2005
  20. Beasley's easily closer to 6'10" than 6'8", especially if Rose is being called 6'4"
  21. Except that no, it wasn't a fluke. It was terrible defending by Vidic and Rio. I think Van Der Sar gets to that ball pretty easily if he didn't slip and fall down.
