Even more reason to like the Celtics and Garnett in the finals. Link

Career? How is that relevant?....Magic & Jabar had great careers for the Lakers, how much help would they have been tonight? For relevant, how's Zambrano's ops+ this year? With a pitcher who doesn't get very many at bats over the course of the season, it's very relevant. Zambrano has less than 50 plate appearances this year, that's not sample enough to tell anything, especially when he's got 400+ PA's of being a terible hitter prior to 2008.

Having basically no power off the bench has sucked. Not saying it's needed, but the option is nice. Hoff and Ward both available for PH roles should be beast. he just seems to be rapidly declining past his usefulness. about the only thing he's done well so far this year (granted, small sample) is walk. he's not good at defense, and his power is greatly diminished His IsoP is exactly the same as it was last year. The only difference is his BABIP, which is a hilariously low .211 on a 20.0 LD%.

Good night for Felix, 3 for 4. Ceda gave up a solo HR in 1 inning, he K'ed 2.

Those jerseys are amazing. Please lose the pinstripes for good.

Wow, Jose Pina is a name I haven't seen in a long time. What happened to him?

Well it only took 8 pitches for Acosta to get through that, so he'll probably pitch the 11th. That's good news for us.
  10. Transmogrified Tiger
They brought in Acosta? That dude's given up runs like 8 appearances in a row.
  11. Transmogrified Tiger
Are you sure he was? Len said he was announced. So does Gameday.
  12. Transmogrified Tiger
Are you kidding me Lou? You're one out from extra innings, you can't burn a bench guy.
  13. Transmogrified Tiger
He's on pace for over 100 innings. It's going to take more than 8 days of slightly less than average use to pull him back from the shredded arm ledge. So are we going to panic every time he's brought in unless we don't use him for a week and a half? He's now thrown only 4.2 IP this month, and 3 of his last 4 outings have been less than 10 pitches.
  14. Transmogrified Tiger
Marmol's thrown 50 pitches in the last 8 days, he's fine.
  15. Transmogrified Tiger
you'd think so, but it is
  16. Transmogrified Tiger
Mike Wuertz hasn't pitched since the jerseys they are in were fashionable and we're sending Z and Dempster out there to throw 120 pitches. Knock it off, Lou.

Either that, or I wouldn't have minded seeing Theriot lead off and Fuku hit second. EPatt is not a good choice to lead off for us, I don't expect him to post an OBP over .300 while he's up here, if that. What leads you to that conclusion?
  18. Transmogrified Tiger
He'll have a good deal of chances. He'll definitely be involved in the 6 DH games, and that's half of our next 12 without him getting any OF time. My reasoning for my linup was to maximize our OBP in the 1-2 spot since we are losing the power out of the 1 spot. Whats EPatts career OBP? .365, .361 this year. To compare, last year was the first time Hoffpauir had ever been above .360, and he was a 27 year old in AAA.

Yeah, DeRosa looked pretty shaky tracking fly balls last night. Not that I wouldn't put him out there because of it, but he's probably a better 2B than Patterson, so you stay stronger all around even if Patterson is shaky as well.
  21. Transmogrified Tiger
At what? Everything involving the game of baseball besides defense at first base.
  22. Transmogrified Tiger
Because Patterson is better than Hoffpauir.
  23. Transmogrified Tiger
That wouldn't really make much sense. Dubois has played 1B at Iowa too, and the OF has Murton, Pie, Torres. I don't really want to consider the possibility of Broussard on the Major League team.
  24. Transmogrified Tiger
Patterson Theriot Lee Ramirez Kosuke Soto Edmonds DeRosa Zambrano Patterson is in LF. Escobar Johnson Chipper Teixeira McCann Francoeur Norton Blanco Hudson

Croatia scores first on the Germans. Too bad Poland couldn't keep it closer against them or they'd have a shot at advancement.
