  1. I didn't include Lee because I don't think we're to the point with any system that can accurately get a grip on 1B defense because of how many throws they receive. I think it does as good a job as other positions with regards to fielding batted balls, but when you get maybe 2 of those per game compared to 10+ throws a game, it doesn't paint a very accurate picture.
  2. Awesome stuff. Some players of note, the numbers are UZR/150 for 2008, which prorates to a full season, meaning guys with less PT at some positions could see some more extreme results. The numbers you see are in runs. Fukudome: +13.4 in RF Edmonds: -17.6 in CF Johnson: -12.0 in CF (career +19.6 in LF, -15.6 in CF, -3.2 in RF) Soriano: -3.1 in LF (+4.4 in '07) Ramirez: -4.2 at 3B (+13.5 in '07) Theriot: -0.5 at SS (+2.7 in '07) DeRosa: -8.8 at 2B (+3.5 in '07); +20.3 in RF (-18.6 in '07) Fontenot: +16.5 at 2B (+7.6 in '07) Cedeno: -5.1 career at SS, +22.6 career at 2B Here's some current names being bandied about: Ibanez: -11.0 in LF (-23.9 in '07) Abreu: -25.9 in RF (-3.9 in '07) Dunn: career -10.1 in LF, -64.4 in RF, -13.3 at 1B(grain of salt position alert) Bradley: +21.9 in RF (+15.5 career) Hermida: -3.0 in RF (-3.9 in '07) DeJesus: -7.4 in CF (+7.5 in '07, +5.5 career) Roberts: -0.3 at 2B (+3.7 in '07, +4.2 career)
  3. Montgomery said after the game that Mizzou is the type of team that he just doesn't like to face(pressing, athletic bigs, etc), so I think part of it was just being a bad matchup for Cal and the home atmosphere helping things spiral out of control. That said, Mizzou killed them, they didn't get within 10 points after the 14:50 mark of the first half. Illinois and @Georgia are the two big games left in the non-conference, and given the season so far I'm optimistic we can be 13-2 or 14-1 when conference play rolls around. you should be optimistic about being 13-2 but don't be insane, plz. Of all people, you should understand. I mean, the last few years we've practically won, right?

  5. Alamo Bowl isn't what I would've dreamed prior to the season, but I like our odds of getting to 10 wins in the J-School Bowl.
  6. Lakers say hi http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerranking didnt the cavs tie a record for most consecutive wins by 10 or more or something tonight? I don't know, could be. What gets me is that these blowouts aren't games that they incrementally gain throughout to have a lopsided score by the end. Their average lead at halftime during their current streak is right around 20 points. They've played like one or two meaningful 4th quarters in their last 10 games.
  7. If I had a vote I'd go with McCoy.
  8. That's absurd. Not a big enough difference? I'd say Jevan Snead is a pretty MASSIVE difference just in himself. Our QB last year rated damn near dead last. Snead is ranked 3rd this year in the SEC only behind Tebow and Stafford and was leading the conference in TD passes before tonight. Our rushing offense was 11th in the SEC last year and 3rd this year thanks in large part to two freshman, one with 441 rushing yards (Brandon Bolden with 5.1 ypc) and the other with 222. Offense: 2007: 12th (dead last) in SEC 2008: 4th Defense: 2007: 11th 2008: 4th (led the SEC in sacks) I didn't say it wouldn't be any difference, I said I didn't think it would be enough. Ole Miss is obviously much improved(though those rankings are a bit skewed by a much weaker SEC this year), but Mizzou put them away in 2 quarters last year on the road.
  9. Makes sense, considering they got to 40 against Memphis, UL-Monroe, and Mississippi State this year, and no one else(a list that includes, Arkansas, Auburn, and Samford). This whole argument is dumb and way off topic. Mizzou shredded Ole Miss last year, and you don't understand leverage at all, which is fascinating considering how often it's mentioned in baseball statistics. Now I'm done.
  10. I'm in agreement with you that the yardage means nothing in the context of that game last year. Ole Miss got destroyed. However, what's your opinion on if a game were played today? It'd be closer than the previous two years, but I don't think the personnel is different enough, even in conjunction with the coaching change, to change the outcome. I think Mizzou would outscore them, something like 45-28 or 45-31.
  11. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Mizzou going up 28 points and rolling up nearly 500 yards of offense in the first 31 minutes means more and is more predictive than Ole Miss outscoring them by 15 the rest of the game.
  12. Clearly both teams were approaching it the same way as the opening kickoff when Mizzou went up 4 touchdowns before fans got back from their bathroom break at halftime. This is one of the fundamental flaws of "the yardage is the same, they could've won the game if they hadn't given the other team the ball on half their possessions!" rubbish you continually try to espouse.
  13. If only Ole Miss and Mizzou had played each other with largely the same players they have now sometime recently. I know. Ole Miss went blow for blow versus Mizzou last year. You know Mizzou rushed 36 times for 229 yards, Ole Miss 38 times for gasp....229 yards. Ole Miss threw the ball 41 times for 305. and Mizzou threw it 44 times for 330 yards. Gasp! Everything's the same! The difference was an interception and a fumble, two turnovers. Since then. Mizzou's defense regressed to complete suck. Ole Miss has improved dramatically under Nutt. Oh, they actually have a very good QB now in Jevan Snead. Yep, all indications are you've gotta like Ole Miss in that game. Mizzou led 35-7 a minute into the third quarter, at which point they had outgained Ole Miss by about 275 yards. In Oxford.

  16. I really like how Chase Daniel has two modes when he's in the pocket 1) making his read in the pocket 2) oh crap there's a red shirt within a 5 yard radius of me I better make myself scarce What a disaster, maybe we'll get some mercy points like the second half of the Texas game. Or maybe we'll just put in Gabbert, it's not like the Alamo Bowl will turn us down if we lose by 70 instead of 50.
  17. I think the Cavs are the best team in the NBA. They are just indiscriminately killing everyone they face. They're currently up 20 at half in Charlotte on the back end of a back-to-back.
  18. The conversation, not Rasmus' season compared to Pie
  19. ACC Championship game, 1st quarter: http://f3.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_ncaaf_experts__7/ept_sports_ncaaf_experts-917964810-1228604963.jpg?ymkoJcADlbW82_Dd
  20. Have you ever seen them together?
  21. For a TD to almost assuredly ice the SEC championship game. How dare he be excited? I bet Juice would never celebrate like that. he's talking about the announcers' "how could he MAKE a throw like that? unBELIEVEABLE" after tebow threw a 3-yard slant pass He got TACKLED this year, like to the GROUND.
  22. hahaha, what an amazing call
  23. [pass gets broken up 3 yards out of bounds] "Oooh, that was close"
  24. Do I have the gist of the Alabama offense down? Run up the middle Run up the middle Play fake, throw to Jones Bootleg to tight end Run up the middle Bootleg where no one is ever open Run up the middle Run up the middle
  25. What, no love for Waitress? Alabama is a little better than I thought.
