Which Tejada are you referring to? Certainly not the one that's leading the NL in batting average right now. Yea, it's some sort of an inside joke. Theriot's never been better than Tejada. They both posted a 3.1 WAR last year, and even with Tejada's insane start this year, Theriot's 1.6 WAR edges Tejada's 1.4 thus far. Theriot's also 5.5 years younger, doesn't have declining skills, and actually plays a MLB SS right now. -
wasn't the report on jackson and lemahieu that neither would likely stick at cf/ss respectively? There seem to be some conflicting reports on LeMahieu, most of them with doubts about him SS I think there was a mention of Jackson not staying on CF, but the greater consensus seems to be he'll be serviceable to very good in CF.

I'm really annoyed that they passed on Wheeler to take Jackson. However, he was well thought of and if he's truly a plus CF than the offensive bar isn't as high for him to be an asset. Really not a fan of taking guys who have 25% K rates in college though, especially without a good walk rate to indicate good strike zone judgment. LeMahieu is kinda disappointing as a Top 100 pick. Like Jackson, if his defense is enough to be decent at SS this looks better, but a .122 IsoP with an aluminum bat is disheartening. Kirk seems like a good choice. Hopefully with instruction he can stay closer to the 95 than 88 consistently with his fastball, and I like that he has 3 pitches. It'd be nice if he had decent control as well, there wasn't much mention of that in the reports so far.

FWIW, Theriot is currently 6th of 23 qualified SS in UZR, on pace to be nearly a win above average.

Personally, it'd be really weird for the Cubs to take Oliver, and even though he rated really high before the year, his performance this year and the fact that he doesn't have a breaking pitch make me leery. If Gibson makes it to 31 and we don't take him, I'm going to have to break something.

Branyan is a career -7 defender at 3B who hasn't played there this year(he's been playing 1B at a -1.5 pace). Plus he's left handed, which is less of a bench priority with Hoffpauir on the bench.

But why give them up for a moderate upgrade that will last about 4-6 weeks until Ramirez is back? And like was mentioned, the difference at 3B for that time span isn't going to make or break the Cubs season, the performance from the rest of the underperforming offense will.

What did Heilman do? The guy was out at third. It should be two outs right now. If you need to get a guy out by an eighth of a step at third, you've made the wrong decision to throw there.
